You sound like me...however, I think I was even more picky. I resorted to calling every dealer I found on Google Maps along the east coast, from Boston to Virginia, that had an OR in the spec I was after. It took a few weeks of searching before I found one allocated but unclaimed. Placed my deposit with Mechanicsville Toyota in Virginia at the end of March and are still patiently waiting to book a flight from NY to pick it up.

Cliff Notes: if you want a specific configuration and sale at MSRP be willing to put in a fair amount of effort, including travel.

For me I got a truck allocated to me that I’m happy with. Its the problems of the delays of being built and the delays getting it to the dealer.

Who would have ever thought before all the covid, lockdowns and the Russian war it would be this difficult trying to buy a new truck. It is a hard adjustment to deal with. I mean this is America. Before all this we could go to a dealer where they had a lot full of new vehicles, and choose any we wanted. Now there are none or very few and could take a year or more to pay down on one before it’s even made. Most they do get in are already sold. I know when I first started looking the dealers where taking about prepaying. I really didn’t know new car’s and trucks where so scarce. Then they offer on my 2016 TRD Sport with nearly 76,000 miles for close what I paid for it new. Crazy! Anyway if all holds true should get my 2022 in another week or so. (maybe) Fingers Crossed! Not the color I wanted but we don’t always get what we want. In all my 50 years of driving I never bought a black vehicle until now.

    Itz JDM tyte, yo!
    I can attest to that.

I put my name down on a dealer for a manual Lunar Rock TRDOR at Jan 2022. No progress. I canceled it a few weeks ago.

I then put my name down for any manual TRDOR at April 2022 on another dealership. I called them for a update June 2022 and they informed me about a white manual TRDOR that's already built.

I may want to add it can be about how common your desired configuration is. I would say somebody trying to find an automatic 4x4 DCSB TRDOR or lower trim levels would have an easier time than somebody trying to find a manual TRD Pro.

Anyone else have better luck with a 23 Ranger Raptor? I put a deposit down in October of 21. Still no temp vin or anything other than, “you’re on the list.” Uggghh. Seems a bit silly. Now I kind of wish I had just bought the $73,000 Ram TRX base and enjoyed it for a year while I waited for Toyota to catch up. What a bummer.

Hello Rod03 greetings from Montana. My son has been dreaming of getting his Tacoma SR with SX package for years. We finally got a allocation and a build date of 5/30. Our temporary vin is 3TYSX5EN2NT22A503. If you could provide us any information we would greatly appreciate it. Thank you!!!
Nothing is coming up with the VIN, I will assume the truck was alreayd build. Your salesman can provide you the permanent VIN.

Well, I just got a bit of good news from my dealer. My TRD Off-road Premium has been built and I received my permanent VIN. It shows in F on Toyota-Tracker. Hopefully I don't hit any snags in shipping, although I'm not holding my breath.
