Weird. And your Pro is being built/delivered soon? Maybe it has to have been assigned a real VIN for it to show up.

Well, just tried to enter my temp VIN into the toyota owners site. Comes up invalid. Tried three more times, had a friend check, had my sister check... my Turd Sport is being built.

I will agree with a previous post. I really wanted an OR for all of the cool guy goodies. Between my area seemingly only being allocated black, silver and MGM Tacos... I bailed on the MTS, CC, and locker. In the long run, I go on trails maybe once a month. Considering I can clear them with an 18 year old Pathfinder... I think a TRD Sport will suit me just fine.

Thanks! I'm extremely excited. I've got some goodies I'd like to get for it besides ATs. Bed mat, bed lights, sill plates, Trd skid plate and Weather techs. I'm really thinking about wheels. Not a huge fan of the Sport wheels.

Once my temp VIN stopped working due to passing build date, I searched on auto trader for similar trucks and found my permanent VIN before my salesman could get it to me.

My dealer has a SW Pro allocated to them. I'm not sure about ETA on it. Didn't ask since I cannot afford the thing.

Search for your truck with your zip code. There were a couple that popped up and I used the VINs on the Toyota site to figure out which one was mine based off of options and port add ons.

Yes, I found an allocated Pro in the zip code I work in last Friday morning. Called the dealership, was not sold yet, so I gave them my deposit. It was the color I wanted with not too much added to it.

FWIW my DCSB Sport had an "01" VIN and it was just built in the last couple days.

How are people finding VIN's and allocation?
I go to Toyota.com and search my zip code, trucks come up but no VIN or ID's that I can see. Seems like vaporware to me.

I put a deposit in with Longo on 12/11 and they have no new info for me. I'd like a DCLB TRD OR 4x4 in MGM, but Longo told me Toyota won't make that, even though I could do it on build and price.

Looks like I'll have to settle for the short bed.

Apparently, in all of SoCal only Longo will sell at MSRP. A tough thing there is the sales tax is 10% vs 7.75% where I live. That will cost me about $1200 extra. Still less than a $5k markup like other dealers are doing.

I really hate waiting as I currently have no vehicle and am riding my bike. Luckily, my commute is short, but getting around by bike is getting old.

So, how can I search to find what is in inventory and incoming?

False on the sales tax - its based on where the truck will be registered. So if your county is 7.75%, thats what you will pay regardless if you buy in another place at a higher (or lower) tax rate.

I hope that is really true. No need to pay extra. Everything else is where it is purchased as far as I know.

I bought my Taco in KY, live in GA. Dealer charged me GA tax. KY will send tax to GA.
I am waiting 3 weeks after the sale, then will go register it at GA DMV.

Allocation is something the dealer gets bi-weekly (roughly) from the regional distributor. So, just check in every week and ask when their next allocation is, and then call them that morning. If your sales person is good, they’ll call you immediately when they know wha they got in.

Once trucks get allocated to them, they’ll have either a temporary or permanent VIN. Temporary means planned but not built yet, permanent means built and in the process of going through the shipping to port etc.

Some people look on auto trader etc. To find VINs to see if that truck has been built yet and the exact specs, as most dealers don’t really clearly specify what’s on trucks especially on those posting sites. Does that answer your question?

California just sounds like a bad place to buy a vehicle, so I get this may not be possible, but only one dealer minimizes your chances. Think of it as odds based game - you need more “dice throws” to raise your odds of someone getting what you want. If you’re only at one dealer, whose name I’ve heard a lot on here assuming because they’re pricing is good, than you might be waiting a while because of people in front of you or a bad run of allocations.

If you’re in need of the truck more quickly, it may be worth a flight to Colorado, sounds like many have had success there.

While there might be a lot of success in CO, there are certain trims that seem to be behind here (Pro as an example). My dealer has (apparently, assuming my sales guy is being straight with me, which I assume he is) only gotten 3 TRD Pros allocated in the last 2 allocations...all the new green. I've been waiting for a TRD Pro in CO for 6+ months currently...but I see allocations in other parts of the country, which I just now see Pros starting to get allocated. BUT, I do see a decent volume of other trim levels (I actually thought about moving to an OR, but talking to my sales guy he thinks that will take longer based on the length of those lists and I'm up next for a Black AT TRD Pro...they just haven't gotten an allocation for one yet).
So, might be worth calling around on, but it's definitely not like CO is an *easy* place to get whatever you want (maybe it's easier if you're willing to pay market adjustment, but I wasn't).

Receiving 3 TRD Pros in 2 allocations seems pretty impressive...I don't know if I would use "only" to describe that. There's some people waiting even longer and their dealers still have never gotten a single Pro allocation. If anything, I think you just added to the legend that is Colorado inventory.

Pros and Trails have only started getting allocated in late December I believe. I am sorry your truck isn't getting allocated, that's frustrating! But you're in a great state to raise your odds, I'd think.

Fair enough, but as one of the higher volume dealers in CO...I was hoping for a bit more than that personally since it's been kind of a slow roll for quite a while. Prior to these 2 allocations, I'm not sure if they've seen a PRO for a couple months. But, if that adds to the legend....
