The temporary VIN has a letter in the last 6 digits and indicates the build week - in this case, week 26 - Jun 7 - Jul 3, but they are usually running late. There should be a permanent VIN available after it is built.

That being said, that trim does NOT match what you requested. The VIN in Toyota's system represents the exact build - so either that is grossly incorrect or the VIN decoder is wrong. I verified your VIN with https://vpic.nhtsa.dot.gov/decoder/Decoder and it is listed as SR5 there, too.

I would verify with either @Rod03 or your dealership to confirm your allocation and/or verify that the VIN you have is the correct VIN for your allocation request.

One does not simply walk in to Toyota... Its black gates are guarded by more than just mere orders. There is evil there that does not sleep. The great allocation is ever watchful.

    Not yet.

I had a friend search the Norcal allocations and found four dealers who had what I wanted coming.

I don't know how trustworthy these online VIN checker websites are. That website also says my TRD Sport is an SR5, and it also says that it's a 4 door sedan and that the tires at 235/50R18 lol. My Toyota app has all the correct information so that's what I would trust.

Yeah, super unfortunate that Toyota closed their guest V-spec pages.

After seeing how long you guys have waited I almost feel guilty now for asking if anyone knew the status of the one I just secured yesterday.

The app tells me nothing except there is 3 miles if I go into health report. Because it is a Manual transmission it has no remote connect. Front page has mileage n/a no fuel level or tire pressure. It says that in order to use the services I need to pair my phone which is impossible without the vehicle. Not sure how people seeing lock unlock of doors is possible

Are they still taking orders for 2022 models?

Did they show you that there was one allocated to the dealership spec’d out the way you want?

"They" don't take orders for anything. That said, your dealer(s) will take a deposit and then try to grab something for you from their allocation which is relatively close to what you're requesting. Per a communication with my sales associate from earlier this week, the 2022 to 2023 switch hasn't happened yet so for the next month or more at least, the allocations will continue to be 2022 models. He did confirm the 2023 models will continue to be the Gen 3 build.

I actually went about it backwards to find dealers who had the allocation for what exactly that I wanted, and then I called the 4 dealers who had it, and two wanted to deal with me, now it’s sort of a race to see who gets it first.

There isn't a dealership within 500 miles of me with a single Tacoma built to my specification. Folks who'll settle for an autotragic transmission seem to have a much easier time finding what they're looking for.

Probably because dealers are marking up anything with a manual transmission out to hell.

No, what I meant was, there isn't a single Tacoma which meets my specifications, at any price, within 500 miles of me.

Everything on cars.com, cargurus.com, etc. all are sold or stupidly marked up.

One dealer in Houston wanted $3300 above msrp. He started laughing when I initially said I have no issue with msrp price. “Hey man, that’s not how this works....ok?”

You could be like my neighbor and pay $70,000 for a manual transmission Tacoma. Which I think is bordering on mental illness.

Both the Sterling McCall dealerships in the greater Houston area are selling at MSRP. Only thing is about a $1500 dealer add BS which right now I'm ok with. I put my deposit down in January and still waiting because I'm want a 6MT in one color.
