How long did you have to wait for your factory 2022 order/request/whatever it is called?

According to my dealer yesterday, he said they've hit rock bottom and things are turning around... IDK if that's true or just a rumor, though.

 

So, I've been one of those who is willing to wait for the local dealership to come up with a Tacoma which meets my specifications, be that wait two months or two years; said another way, I've opted to not put a bunch of deposits all over the place hoping to get an earlier allocation. Yeah, well that might change, not because I'm in any more of a hurry, but because my son just accepted a sales associate position at a dealership about 15 miles east of me, and yup, I'd be happy if he was able to sell me a truck.

 

None of the Toyota dealerships within 200 miles have had any uncommitted Tacoma inventory for almost two years until just this week. The largest area dealer finally has three 2WD and one 4x4 SR actually on their lot unsold. They are still demanding a $2000 market adjustment, but at least they finally have trucks to sell.

 

Maybe with all of the talks about an impending recession (truthful or not), people have been less willing to either pay markups or spend a long time waiting for a new vehicle.

Or maybe markups are finally starting to catch up with these dealers and people are just saying no, so more inventory.

I asked my dealer the same thing this week when I picked up mine and he said he doesn't feel like inventory is getting any better, but I do feel like I've seen more inventory. He said they're still turning away business.

 

Some here have questioned whether their Step Boards (or other options) might be causing delays. FWIW, mine apparently did.

I met with my Dealer this morning here in SW MO and he informed me that the truck was delayed due to the 5" Oval Step Boards I originally ordered, needing to be replaced at the Port with Predators. Apparently, a Regional POC in KC officially notified my dealer yesterday that they had to exchange them - - which I'm not hyped about. I got to see the print-out of that notification when I sat down with my sales rep to discuss the situation. What's interesting was that my truck's listing disappeared all day and night yesterday on the dealer website. I thought, "Huh, that's unusual." Additionally, I clicked on of another Limited’s little icon that displays the number of views it’s had in the last x# of days. It showed that vehicle’s views, and it also showed a Black Limited truck that was “SOLD.” “Whoa! Was this mine? Did it arrive and they sold it out from under my nose!?” No. No way. Can’t be. They wouldn’t do that to me…I’ve been a customer for years. I started to kick around all sorts of hypotheses. So, I decided I'd do what I prefer to do, and that's make the drive and look the dealer in the eyes this morning. The visit was professional and transparent which is what I expect and give. Anyway, this "change" results in a $150 increase to the bottom line and I get Steps that I'm not too jazzed about. But that's not going to kill the deal for me. I can live with them until I want something else, and most importantly my truck is coming with all the Options I ordered. I'm still happy. Shoot, I even got a couple of free Cokes and Jimmy John's sub sandwich from the complimentary Refreshment area for my trouble (I know when it's stocked - - timing is everything...LOL)

So, I hope this sheds some light for those with similar concerns - - YMMV. And, since the correspondence came out of KC, I'm going to assume the truck may be there already. The build date was 06/28 and I received the Perm VIN the day after. Since that time, I've not received any Notifications other than it showing 1 Mile on the ODO. I think I can hear the Train ‘A-Comin. All the best to everybody.

So I am sorry for those who are still waiting but my wait is over. And wow to me it was so worth the wait. I love my new truck. I bought it two hours away so I had 129 miles to kinda get used to the Manual transmission. I Haven't had one in years.
My timeline. Started looking for an allotment mid may.
Finally got allotment and put deposit 6/22.
Truck Built 7/7, on the bravery ace ship bound for Newark new jersey 7/16 arrived Newark 7/22.
Arrived dealer 7/27, in my garage 7/28.

Can someome give me info on my Tacoma? My sales person said it would be here the end of this month but called me and told me there was a possible delay and really didn’t give clear information on the delay.
