How long did you have to wait for your factory 2022 order/request/whatever it is called?

Minneapolis area here. It was about a month delayed over the normal delivery time I believe. Not too bad IMO considering it hit all the holidays.

• Reserved with a $500 refundable deposit off an allocation list 11/5. OR DCSB, Black, at MSRP. The build could not be changed but dealer added accessories were available. I went to 4 different dealers in the area and it was the same story. One dealer offered 1% off MSRP which is better than a kick in the pants but they didn't have the trim level/color I wanted.
• Built 11/18 as scheduled- at this point the temp VIN went away and dealer gave me the real VIN
• Delivered in a snowstorm on 1/14 - I drove it off the lot in 4Hi

Well I get a lot of dealers aren’t like this, this is my concern with not buying local. I was prepared to drive far and got lucky that my local dealers were actually the best deal I could find, but this was definitely what I was concerned about. I’m sure there’s some serious horror stories of people flying out to get one in Colorado as we hear of often or something of that nature. Sorry to hear you were deceived

 

Based on this description, he is talking about my local Toyota dealer. While I have never worked with them, I have had family with horrible stories from them. I purposely avoided them and put my order in with a dealership 45 minutes north. There are two other Toyota dealers between me and there. Finding a good dealer and avoiding the bad ones are certainly a good thing.

 

idk whats up with my salesperson, as they didnt offer a single dealer installed accessory, odd. delivery date 2/8-2/14 per the vin tracker.

 

Isn’t it ridiculous Aeslyn that we all know exactly who everyone is with just little random snippets here? Larry Miller had the laws written here through his army of lobbyists in the state legislature, and he and Ken Garff totally went crazy consolidating dealerships under all kinds of names. Then it of course gave everyone else an excuse to also be a sleazeball, even long after LHM has died. It encouraged others to come in from out of state and run crap business models as well because it thrived here.

I couldn’t believe it when I first dealt with Findlay in Nevada and they acted like they really wanted my business and asked what they could do to earn it. Every single Utah dealership seems to act like you need to get on your knees and beg them to sell you a car. Dahle and Rick Warner were the absolute worst. Then Garff came along and said, “Hold my beer.” And I haven’t even mentioned the name of the assclown I’m talking about. I seriously had to take a few deep breaths to avoid punching him at Best Buy a couple of Christmases ago. Such a total arrogant person and so completely rude to everyone. A royal narcissist. I’d fly to Hawaii and bring a car back home on a rowboat before I would put a penny in that dude’s pocket.

He has had his franchise put in peril for selling gray market Toyotas and bouncing checks to the factory. In 2012 they were about a week from losing their license from factory and no dealerships were allowed to complete trades with them for an extended period. I could write a book and better stop before this thread turns into one!

Should be interesting, I just ordered a LR Tacoma TRD OR DCSB and a white 4Runner SR5 Premium yesterday, neither from dealer allocation. Will be interested to see how long it takes to get these…

for reference, I’m in Vermont and called each Toyota dealership in state and none had what I was looking for in stock or allocation…

 

What vin tracker are you using to see a delivery date?

 

Uh oh. First I’ve heard about a LR paint shortage. Anybody else been told this? I plan on reaching out to my dealer in the next few days and will see if he’s heard anything.

 

That sounds to me like a bullshit artist of a salesman who has had multiple request for LR. Suggest that gentleman who was told this crock to check with other dealers for a LR allocation. Could be true but I call BS, especially since others on this forum haven’t been told the same.

I find my truck by the exact options and price for my zip code. once its built, aka after the temp vin goes bad, buyatoyota will have an estimated delivery date.

 

Where are you seeing the delivery date? I’ve done this and see my truck, I know it’s already going to port per my salesman. But can’t see the delivery estimate.

 

Looks like it only posts the delivery date once it is “this vehicle might be in transit”

 

You are in GST region? Because mine looks like this. I scrolled through a ton and don’t see that on any.

 

My salesperson texted me that a that they had an allocation in WSP that has the specs we wanted, but told him we would hold out a little longer for our preferred color (LR). Our option colors are MGM or whatever silver is called. We will see which shows up first. I see a LR in the region inventory, but I suspect it has an owner already.

I might end up kicking myself later, but feel ok right now.

 

how long you been waiting? I ordered 11/24 from one dealer, and 1/7 from another dealer for LR. Starting to get worried the LR is going to be what takes a while. Second choice was army green, I'm ready to text my sales guy and say i'm open to silver or MGM as well just to get this shit over with sooner.
