    I know what you're saying about the ecoboost. Before I had the Tacoma I drove a Ford Escape with the 2 L EcoBoost and it could get up. At 145,000 Mi it was done though. It was going to cost more to fix than it was worth. Of course I had quite a few repairs along the way . I'm used to Ford's back in the day getting over 300,000 mi. After that I decided I was just going to stick with Toyota.

    1500 lb payload it's kind of embarrassing for tacoma.. That's one of my biggest gripes about the Tacoma that's payload is so low. I'm sure it can handle more I just wish Toyota would raise the official number so you could tow a decent camper without being overweight. I'm not one to max out the Towing on a vehicle but with a family of four that doesn't leave you much for tongue weight.

    Yup, my old Tacoma felt just broken in at 130k miles, i can't say the same will be the case for Maverick. The hybrid ones are under a fire recall and Ford's fix for it is to drill out a bunch of ugly holes with a hole saw in the skid plate. In the past two weeks a lot of Australian reviewers have been posting videos of new Ford Ranger that we will be getting next year. It's going to force Toyota's hand to get the next generation Tacoma on the road in 2024.

    I agree about the payload as well. I heard that Toyota removed the transmission cooler in 2020 from the Tacoma entirely. That decision probably decreased everyones tow and haul capacity by a bit. I am really after the new Tundra but am uncomfortable with the reliability issues that are popping up in the first production year. $60k is a lot for something that might sit at the dealership for 3 months awaiting a turbo replacement. All while they stick me in a Corolla. I figured i'll drive another Tacoma or Maverick until the second or third production year of the Tundra. Midsize truck market is heating up though, and i'm all for that!

    Ford also said that for their new F150 Lightnings they are going to switch to Lithium-Iron batteries, which get even less milage than the Lithium-Ion ones they are already using. Not sure who the hell their targeted market is for the damn things.

    FWIW, YouTube's The Fast Lane TFL Truck has a short series on driving the Lightning to Prudhoe Bay Alaska. Very revealing I think.

    Yup, best trim isn't even available to the public, only to fleet customers. Basic "Pro" with the big battery. There is talk that the $7500 tax credit might be become a $7500 discount at point of sale. They are still going to sell a ton of those too. All roads lead back to a Tacoma for me in the mean time, just praying that Toyota releases the hold on mine soon, i'd like to get at least one camping trip in.

    Congratulations brother! Scoring an allocation with MT and advanced technology is nothing short of a miracle these days. I also started my search in February for the same build as you except in AG, but was never able to find one with advanced tech.

    @Rod03

    Hi Rod, new to the forum, I was referred over to this thread to enlist your great help :bowdown:. I’m very frustrated with the lack of info from my dealer on my Tacoma delivery status (been built for 2 months now) that keeps getting pushed back. Hate to be a bother, but any chance you could check on the status of 3TMCZ5AN6NM506737?
