Are you suggesting 2023 Tacomas will rare? Why do you think that? Per my sales associate, the Tacoma allocation I have which will be built last week of August/first week of September has 50/50 odds of being branded as a 2023.

I put money down for a DC TRDOR in early February and told the dealer what I wanted. This was a large dealer in north Idaho. I then contacted a different dealer in early July about one on their web site that had the options that I wanted. Of course it was already sold and then in mid July the second dealer told me they had an allocation for one with everything I wanted. It is to be built on Aug 9 and looking at a month for delivery. So, maybe in September I will finally get my truck.

Not rare in a sense, but harder to come by. I was reading an article from Toyota that they’re struggling on getting the materials to make the 2023 models. I mean look at it now, we are all on here tracing our trucks. There has been trucker protests on the west coast, and now rail protests. Like I said I could be wrong and it all just turn around all of a sudden.

Yeah it's weird. All the Japanese auto makers are having a really rough year.

I'm sure you will love it! Once upon a time, a long long time ago (before the inventory shortage), I test drove manual and automatic Tacomas back-to-back and the MT was way more fun and engaging to drive. The clutch is lighter than I would have expected for a truck and the shifts are easier/smoother than on my manual car. It is great to have control over both gears and engine speed, especially when merging onto highways in heavy traffic when an AT can be frustrating. My wife was born and raised outside the US and knows how to drive a stick but hasn't done so in over 20 years and adamantly refuses to do so now. I have repeatedly explained to her that modern manuals are much easier to use than the column-shifters she grew up on, to no avail. She is like :lalala:

For me, the great manual transmission killer was Atlanta traffic, specially on the infamously dangerous I-285.

How much does the temporary vin on the build sheet differ from the official one the truck gets assigned?

Sorry to hear, that's awful and your experience was one of my fears after reading about another cancelled allocation on this thread awhile back (posted by a Canadian member IIRC).
One silver lining is that you still have another year to keep trying for a 3rd gen, and who knows maybe Toyota will add a minor feature or two for the 2023 model year.
    Good luck.

@Rod03 any chance you could check this VIN when you have a minute?

I ordered my TRDSport 4x4 advanced tech and premium package on 7/26 and after having two
Fords f150-f250, I’m looking forward to my new taco. It’s been since 2011 since my last one. Wait has begun….

I put my deposit down for a 22 MY MBM Tacoma TRD Pro with M/T on 7/25. The lady I've been working with said I most likely will end up getting a 23 MY when I spoke to her Friday. May have to switch it up to a Solar Octane if that's the case, but I just hope I can get a Gen3 TRD Pro with M/T. The struggle is real!

For anyone looking for a 2WD Tacoma, Toyota is offering $1000 TFS APR Cash through 9/6 if you finance through them, at least in the mid-Atlantic region.
Not surprisingly, 4WD Tacomas are excluded from this offer.

This would be a great offer in the Gulf States region since many Tacomas (and Tundras) sold here are 2WD. Unfortunately it is not offered here……

    Couldn't hurt to check anyway.
The 3rd closest dealership to me 2 hours away showed everything as reserved but when I called them up they said someone dropped their reserve on a Limited so it was up for grabs even though the website wasn't updated.

While I was lucky enough to recently get a 2022 Tacoma, some on this thread may end up with a 2023. A little while ago, Toyota put out some basic info on the 2023s (new color, new packages, etc). Today, I might have found some newer official info on the 2023 Tacomas to include pricing and specs. Link below - and on the right side of the link is a downloadable PDF for all Toyota pricing effective Aug 1.

    https://pressroom.toyota.com/vehicle/2023-toyota-tacoma/

2022-2023 TOYOTA FULL-LINE PRICING ***Prices are manufacturer’s suggested retail prices (MSRP), effective with August production and do not include delivery, processing, and handling fee (DPH). ***DPH is as follows, and is in effect for all units scheduled for processing, regardless of model year, on or after August 1, 2022: - $1,795 for Large Truck (Tundra) - $1,595 for Large SUVs (Sequoia) - $1,335 for SUV/Van/Small Truck (C-HR, RAV4, RAV4 HV, RAV4 Prime, Highlander, Highlander HV, Venza, 4Runner, Sienna, Tacoma) - $1,095 for Passenger Cars (Corolla, Corolla HV, Corolla Hatchback, Camry, Camry HV, Prius, Prius Prime, Mirai, Avalon, Avalon HV, Supra, GR

And it seems a nominal increase in the MSRP as well.

I’m in North Alabama. I put a $1k deposit down for a 2022 TRD Sport 4x4 DCSB in Lunar Rock on 29 JUL. The dealer called me on 8/3 and said it looks like it should be in around 9/7. I asked and he said there’s no VIN yet…not sure this is 100% correct seems like a short flash to bang.

I noticed last night that the DPH fee on the website’s build your vehicle using my specs had gone up. Base and accessories all stayed the same except for the Tourneau cover that went up about $50 too.

Wondering if my dealership is going to keep the cost the same we agreed with my deposit. I’m paying more than MSRP so would be nice.

They are going to want you to pay the additional price increase.

I see Nightshade is still an option on Limited models, and the SX package is only availble on SR5. No more SR SX.

Hyundai called and they want their paint back.[IMG]

That color only worked on the Pro.
