People could start ordering the 2022 Tacomas late summer of last year so if you just ordered yours in December, I expect there are a lot of people are in front of you. I ordered a specific color TRD Pro on 11/26/2021 and just hoping to get it before summer.

Take this for what you will - I watched a segment on youtube from Yahoo Finance and an "industry expert" saying Toyota is focusing on producing vehicles that sell quickly and provide the most profit. That may end up hurting those looking for a manual Tacoma as you are in the minority.

Exactly. A lot of the guys posting in here had to make "sacrifices". Some soul searching if you will... yes the MTS, Crawl control, manual, and Pro trim are really cool... just need to make sure you are willing to put in the wait.

I had a loose timeline. Wanted to offload my previous vehicle before the registration ran out. And I did. Turned out I was able to borrow a car. So I probably could have waited for the TRD OR with the cool guy gadgets instead of the TRD Sport that is already in transit. Bottom line... I don't do serious off roading. . That outs the locker and gadgets. Besides... HOOD SKEWP!.

Yeah that’s probably what’s killing me then. Ordered an OR with a MT but I refuse to budge on either option. Looks like I will just have to wait.

Toyota makes manuals every 3 months and remember, only 5% of Tacoma’s are manuals. Best bet is to place a deposit at several different dealers. The next round of manuals will be around early March. I believe they were last building manuals mid to late December/early January.

The wait for a manual is what broke me. Told myself I don't need or want it that badly. Really wanted one since I haven't had a standard shift in a long time. Obviously I've gotten along perfectly fine without it.

I cannot blame you for sticking to your guns though. It's a lot of money to drop. If you won't be completely happy with it, there is absolutely no point.

Did your dealer give you the temp vin? I ordered one this weekend but didn’t get that, they had zero allocated at the time so are looking… wasn’t sure how that works

Once one is allocated, the dealer will have a temp VIN.

From what I have read here, allocations are bi-weekly. The dealer can put in requests or whatever at that time. If one close to your build comes up, they may call you. This also depends on how many people are ahead of you at that dealer looking for a similar Taco.

My one non-negotiable is it must have a manual transmission. I think patience and luck come into play. I almost went with a 2021 OR DCSB for $46,590, then switched to a 2020 Sport DCSB (with all the bells and whistles) for $44,990. BUT A BRAND NEW Sport DCSB with some bells (Advanced Tech Package) for $39,760. This all happened over a course of less than three weeks. With lots of luck and a bit of patience, somehow I got my manual. I sacrificed on color, but the color is now growing on me big time! (Barcelona Red, and I am going to black out the exterior emblems, tailgate insert, exhaust tip and wheels)

I feel so lucky that the truck I ordered is a manual, now. Based on everthing I’ve read on the 3.5L, I wouldn’t be happy with the auto even with a tune. Had two dealerships pushing me to get their army green TRD sports, but I went with the manual bc I just prefer stick shift.

I’m going to get a KDMax pro tune on the manual and put on some 32” skinnies for best of both worlds

Hi I wish I had a looser timeline but I totaled my truck and didn't have rental reimbursement on my insurance (would have elapsed by now anyways). Fortunately, a friend is letting me use his truck until my 2022 TRD Sport comes in hopefully by early Feb. I initially was going OR since my two previous Tacomas were OR's and I loved them. But then I thought, it's a new truck and maybe I should get the Sport since I've never had it before. And yassss... the HOOD SKEWP looks amazing!

None of my previous trucks had bells and whistles, so I feel I can't miss what I never had. But this one will have the Advanced Tech Package. I am glad I got that because it lowers insurance (Blind Spot Monitoring).

Now dammit, just get here already!

I waited for a Voodoo Blue TRD OR DCSB with tech package and LED HL since June. Then it became TRD OR DCSB green, crush blue, barcelona red.

Got TRD Sport DCSB with Advance Tech and LED HL in Wind Chill Pearl in December and absolutely love it. And no moonroof. Every LED headlight truck came with leather seats and moonroof. I did not want either.

I ordered end of November they told me three months. Called back a month later and they said 3-4 months. January 7 I put a deposit down at another dealer that says they can get it before the other dealer. I’ve heard nothing from either. This is for a ORSB with advanced tech package. My 2017 was hit and totaled when I was at a stop. Rental car paid for until I got my check. Renting a 4Runner at the tune of $660 a month out of pocket. Luckily I get an auto allowance from work but it’s still a snails pace wait for my truck. In the long run it’ll be worth it but it’s hard to see it that way sometimes!

I have a deposit at one dealer just to be in line for allocation, should hear from them on the 24th,, then have two more dealers Iam in contact with about their allocations and should hear from the two by Friday Sat this week. Hopefully one of them can get me what I want. 2022 trd or dclb in silver. Then I will have to wait 3-6 months is what I was told.

Bro - the LED HL are the one thing I wish mine came with. Not a super fan of the Barcelona red, but I know it will grow on me. It already has. I'm blacking out the exterior to give it a nice two-tone look.

So not a fan of the moonroof or leather seats? I honestly wished mine had the Premium package, but if given a choice between Adv Tech or Premium, I'd probably go with Adv Tech. I do wish I had a moonroof, but I am kind of glad I didn't get leather seats. That just seems too much. Especially where I live where it is super hot 8 months out of the year.

Blackout Barcelona red is very nice. My wife's Rav4 is that color. She does not let me do a blackout treatment or even upgrade the lightbulbs.
I am 6ft+ tall, moonroofs eat into my headroom.

I am in GA. Had a black Solara convertible for a few years. Leather seats cooked my legs 6 months out of the year. I got tired of putting towels on them.

I got on the Barcelona thread to see others' Tacomas. That has helped tremendously. Some of those red ones look sharp! When mine is blacked out, I will definitely post some pics here.

I am NOT 6'+ (just short of 6 ft) - so I cannot relate to that - however I can definitely empathize.

And yeah... I think you're right. I might have dodged a bullet with leather seats. I'm in Southern AZ where it is hot and dry and miserable a good chunk of the year.
