Well everyone! It has finally arrived! I was sad I couldn’t take it home today, but I will have it tomorrow! Here is my timeline.

    Allocation received from dealership
Truck built on 6/30 from Guanajuato
July 15th - Started shopping for a truck and placed a 1k deposit placed for a 22 WHT TRDOR DCSB AT, ETA to dealer 7/18 - 7/26
July 18th - Truck arrived at Long Beach and was stuck there with no ETA
July 26th - Fustrated…. No ETA, on hold due to protests/worker shortages
July 30th - Rolled the dice and Switched deposit for another truck coming out of Baja that was built on 7/30, ETA to dealer 8/16 - 8/20 same everything, just $600 difference because it came with mats, bed mat, LED bed light kit, and door seal protectors.
August 2nd - Depaurted Baja to ABQ
August 13th - Arrived in ABQ
August 15th - Arrived at dealer.

I highly recommend downloading the toyota owners app, and inputting your VIN and activating the subscriptions to track your truck. Once you get doors being unlocked and then miles with the fuel range. It’s definitely moving.

I have more stuff to put on! I will post more pictures of the upgrades. Big shout out to @Rod03!!!!

Anyone who is still in the market is looking at second options, i highly recommend the dealer here in my city. It’s Viva Toyota of Las Cruces, NM. They keep there site up to date and have about 52 tacomas allocated on the site, soon to have more tomorrow allocated. Talk to Wayne Sheppard!

Hey guys (and gals). TLDR. Glad to see some getting their trucks. I have been looking at third gens for a while, and finally decided to take action. Every dealer I called did not have anything close to what I wanted (if anything). I broadened my search to the highest volume dealer in every surrounding state- I live in KY. All the dealers had the same response that they didn’t have anything that I was looking for. I decided to go local since no one had one that was specced to my liking.

I want a TRD off-road with the advanced tech package with options. (No leather but with the 360 camera). The dealer that I gave my card number told me they submitted the request to Toyota but couldn’t even give me a range for lead time (or if Toyota would even EVER confirm my build). Would I be better off to just lower my standards, or look at a new Lexus GX (which I am also a fan of).

Also worth noting that I placed the order with a local dealer 8 weeks ago.

Congrats! My truck built 06/07 and haven't gotten an update sense haha. I'm in Utah and have been calling around neighboring states to see if they are selling to people out of state, so I might give them a call.

I was told that I would have to wait 8-12 months for mine (LED lights and technology package) but my salesman called me that night and said one got allocated so it's in Toyota's hands. However, that same truck was built 06/07 and hasn't moved haha.

To your benefit, most Tacomas sold are the Off-Road trim.
As for packages, I wanted a TRD Sport with Advanced tech, was told it would take about 3 months back in Jan.
After 3 months of nothing I expanded my options and just now am about to get a Limited, 8 months after initial deposit.

I put a deposit down for a trd-OR with premium/advanced , DCLB, back in November, I still don't have am allocation, and was told it was because of the advanced tech package... i guess there's enough parts for the limited and PRO which include those 360 cameras , but not enough for other vehicles which are an option. I was even told my 2022 deposit will now be for a 2023..

    Grrrr

From what I’ve read into on this thread it looks like it really depends on the mode of transport from port to dealer. If it’s done by road it looks like they move kind of fluidly. If it has to get on a train/railed then there’s bottlenecks.

I asked my salesman today if I would be better off just ordering a pro to get that package and he said there was such a long waitlist on pros it probably wouldn’t matter…

I did same, and I was hell bent on the long bed, and said ok I'll take a PRO and deal with a 5foot bed.. 3 dealers basically laughed at me in a fun way.

I'd probably call the "engagement center" and tell them 9months is a stupid period to wait for a truck that's not going to be built, that you've been dealing with absolutely no information, and what can the center do to take care of you... at this point, are you ready to wait another year for a 2023 that might not get built? I always thought their "build it tool" was a crewel joke.

This comes to mind over and over again:

Thank you!! I did the same, but Texas, and the four points it came out to the same buying local and I had a longer wait with those states and Arizona in particular is only giving residents first dibs on allocations. Hit them up! They usually do a good job on putting the “pending sale” next to vehicles so you’re not wasting your time.

That's why you need to talk to multiple dealers, even in surrounding states.

I was 9-12 months out...at best...for a TRD off road 6mt. And premium or advanced pac? Forget about it!

I had my temp vin for a 6mt TRD pro in less than a month. Now it's waiting to board ship while the other dealers I've had my deposit with haven't even been allocated 6mt TRD off road since early June.

    EPIC!
That clip explains Toyota's allocation system perfectly.

@Rod03 When you have a minute, what can you tell me about 3TMGZ5AN3NM512018? Was built on JUN 28, later in JUL it was modified with Predator Steps and dealer expected arrival 8/ 7 - 8/13, which came and went. Thank you - - much obliged.
