    40 vote(s)

@Forgotten Waypoints So do you forfeit the money you put as a deposit at the multiple dealers that never got the allocation?

I wonder if this time next year customers will be getting bumped off of their 2023 allocations and forced into the (alleged) next gen/2024

Negative, it doesn't become nonrefundable until the dealer gets an allocation, in other words, you get a temporary VIN. If I back out of my Pro, they will keep my deposit. I got the refunds at the other dealers.

If you can lock up some cash, a good strategy is multiple deposits while you call dealers monthly.

3 month wait for me. 2.5 months after it was allocated. Guess I was one of the lucky ones

If *they* couldn't deliver on the deposit, then no, you shouldn't forfeit it. In general, a deposit is forfeited when *you* back out for whatever reason, and that deposit secured something that prevented the seller (or lessor in the case of something like an apartment) from offering it to someone else.

The practical realities are that these things sell so readily most dealers probably won't hesitate to let a deposit go regardless of the circumstances.

Well, I called my sales guy up today to ask some questions about paperwork and inquire about if the truck is ready.
To my surprise he's still saying it's not on their lot.
Last I checked, it only takes 1 hour from the train station to their lot by car carrier and I got (4!) door unlock notifications over the weekend.
    I wonder what's up?

@Rod03 could I get one last check on 3TMGZ5AN9NM512338 to see if it's been delivered?

I'm still waiting for an allocation. Initially, I thought I had an allocation, but turned out the dealer only printed me a spec-sheet of someone else's allocation stating, "this is what we'll try to get you" after inquired more about it. Put a deposit down exactly two months ago to "wait in line" I guess. I got a call the other day from the dealer telling me they aren't expecting any new allocations until a month or two from now and if I am lucky, I might get into a Tacoma by snowfall. I started to look around to a few dealers around me and every single one of them either says, "Your out of your service area so we won't sell" or "Sorry, all our trucks have been pre-sold so your about 4-6 months out if you put a deposit in today". Probably should just look into something else, I don't know. Frustrating.

There's a strike at the railyards. My dealer here in AZ said they are delivering some via truck out of long beach direct to dealers. Otherwise no idea how long it will take from the railyard.

Thats kind of where I am at too. I test drove a CPO Lexus GX460 a couple weeks ago. The Lexus dealer I went to had over 20 of them on the lot. Might go that route if I can’t get any progress in the next couple months.

I can track both of them, as long as they are not SE Toyota or Gulf States dealerships.

About the beer, the wife had already mention I should switch it to buy me a diaper .
