How long did you have to wait for your factory 2022 order/request/whatever it is called?

Looking for thoughts on backing out on a security deposit on a allocated TRD at MSRP that arrived at dealership yesterday for basically the same truck at MSRP but has locking tailgate and is at a dealership 30 minutes away as opposed to an hour and a half. Do you think the dealership with the deposit will give me a hard time getting my deposit back?

 

Rod03, Could you please check this vin for me as to status/location. According to the dealer it is built and awaiting transit due to the covid delays,etc.

Was it a refundable deposit? Did it have conditions on backing out? Mine is refundable up to 48 hrs after it reaches the dealership? You could buy the lock and install yourself or have the dealer install for much less than losing your deposit

 

So build date is 8/19. When did you fellas get your perm vin # after build? Did it update on dealers site or did you have to call? Eager to get it so I can enter into the app for the excitement of getting an unlock notice!! It’s the little things.

Was curious if anyone else had this experience and the timelines-
I checked in with my sales rep and he told me my allocation of 7/12 was built, but was waiting on the freight info, but could be here by the end of the month.
Has anyone had a similar experience and if so, what was the time between built and delivery?

The truck is from SE Toyota, I dont have any tracking info on it. Looks like the build date was 07/05, that is all I can see.

 

Rod curious as to the calculus of the visibility between the different regions. Are they purposefully restricting the information? What’s the upside of this?

In the email exchange I asked if it was a refundable security deposit and he said "Absolutely, we just ask that you take a good look through the Specification sheet I sent over before putting the deposit down. We just don't want the truck to land, and then realize it's missing something you wanted."

It's not so much about the tailgate on this other truck but the dealership is so much closer. It's up in the air though. Original dealership offered low value on my trade in, if the closer dealership offers more on the trade in, why not?

 

My truck had a scheduled build date for today and when I checked with my salesguy yesterday as to when I would have the permanent VIN he said probably Monday.

But doing a little sleuthing on the Googlesheet buried in this thread I found something 90% the same as my spec sheet and then doing a check on the search inventory section of the Toyota homepage I found it assigned to my dealership so pretty certain I found it first.

There’s like 3 tweaks though on the options that performed at the port I assume can be changed based on the dealer’s initial specs. Does anyone know if this is common? I really don’t need a center console safe.

 

@Rod03 My VIN is 3TYCZ5AN4NT096931. Based on your response to @NoodleNinja, looks like my truck went from Santa Maria to the Port of Veracruz, and waiting on a boat like the other truck. Appears the transport via vessel to the US port before transport by truck to dealership is about 8days. I'm predicting arrival at dealership right at the end of August. How close am I? If

Showed up at the dealer on Black Friday 2021

 

I knew the build date. The next day, the truck went from having a temp VIN, to permanent VIN on the dealership site. Within 2days after that, I got the first door unlock message. several more since then including driver's door, wheel pressures, a small amount of fuel in the tank.

 

It was in the recall, but my dealer sent me a text yesterday saying the damn thing just showed up on a truck. So exactly a week after I bought mine. At least I have closure now. Picked up my deposit check too. So hopefully yours is ready to pop!

I didn't have much communication with the dealer/salesman about the VIN so I ended up just searching their website for "my truck" and found one that matched, so I assumed it was mine and just called and asked if they could confirm it was mine (which it was).
