At least you guys have something to drive.
I've basically been w/o a vehicle since last April.
Kept trying to get my Dakota fixed all spring and summer with a bunch of problems and every place I tried to take it to had weeks or months waits.
Finally pulled the plug and donated it.
Shopped around (hard to do with no trucks to test drive or even see) and decided on a Tacoma.

My deposit with Longo went in 6 weeks ago and it still looks hopeless. I'll have to try and find out what place in line I am.

I've been riding my bike to work etc and it is getting a bit tiring. First time since 1981 that I haven't owned a vehicle.

The fact that I can't order the truck I want from Toyota is absolutely maddening. They are costing themselves and their dealer network money, as I would happily walk in with $45k tomorrow and put it all down for the truck I want if I could be guaranteed by Toyota that exact truck within 6 month. I don't understand why Toyota does not allow this when nearly every other manufacturer does, and it's probably going to end up with me not buying my 5th NEW Tacoma because I'm tired of dicking around with 20+ dealers across the country checking their "allocations".

Is there a LR TRD OR 6MT support group here?

They don't care. Just like the market adjustment fees, the dealers don't care that they're being assholes, they're selling those trucks with the market adjustment added. The only trucks I see showing up in allocation on Toyota's website are all for a dealer 90 mins from me that told me MSRP over the phone and when I drove out there, they told me $5k market adjustment only for me to turn around and walk out and drive 90 mins home. But they'll sell them. I ordered a ORSB LR with the advanced tech at the end of november, haven't heard a peep from the dealer. Went to another dealer on 1/7 and put down a deposit for the same truck. Told them I'd take AG and would consider MGM or silver... not a peep. I read this thread daily, see people who say they walked in and 2 weeks later their truck was being built.... frustrating to say the least. I had a 2017 that was hit from behind and totaled. So I'm renting a 4runner until I get my truck. Fun times

I placed my deposit for my 2022 Tacoma TRD Off-road in November at Balise Toyota in West Springfield, Massachusetts. They told me yesterday they put my name on the list for the Tacoma in the configuration I wanted. now it is a waiting game, they told me 4-6 months before it came in.
So my question to them was why did you wait so long to put my name on the list, you have had my money for two months, then you add me to the list.
I tell you this if that truck isn't in, in April like I'm told. I'm getting my deposit back, keeping the vehicle i have now and ordering something else.

I understand there is a shortage, but i can't be given a serious answer, just the run around all the time.

Use the tacoma spreadsheet and go find one somewhere else. Your sport is a pretty common truck, you should be able to find one even 8n lunar rock.

11th in line for a truck without a locker? All those nasty Corona viruses infected all the chips! This is 2022 and unfortunately you have to be willing to pay extra, or travel.

    Agree.

Granted some got lucky... I think I did. Walked into my dealer at just the right time. Still don't have it yet, but it has been built, and the dealer is awaiting delivery.

Definitely put feelers out to other dealers. You will increase your chances of obtaining the vehicle sooner. This has worked for others.

That’s rough I’m sorry. Not sure if the situation allows, but if you could fly to get one, it sounds like you need a vehicle now. If you were able to expand your search past 1 dealer locally that would help a ton. This is one of the scenarios where I could see someone justifying paying markup. Hope you get allocated soon.

Not sure how all these dealers does their things, when the dealer contacted me on an allocation, the Pro have more accessories than I originally asked for. He was able to take the extra accessories off before giving me the temp vin. .......

I’m reading a lot of folks here that are teaching my point. It just isn’t worth stressing about it. If I get one… I’ll likely just buy it with cash and turn around and resell it to a dealership for a few bucks extra. I still have a 4Runner that only has 90,000 and a Grand Cherokee with 87,000. I was going to sell them… but they just keep going and at this point they are free. Why stress out about a truck that Toyota can’t deliver.

Yep, the week 49 estimate in the temporary VIN is of course inaccurate, Trails and Pros got delayed. Mine i think was a 47 or something like that technically, but got built 01.
