Same here in Va... finally found a '22 and '23 Pro and a dealership (actually in MD) they wanted $10k over MSRP plus their add ons. I ended up finding a '23 Pro that was not advertised after calling a bunch of local dealerships. Priced at MSRP plus side steps and locking tailgate. Put my deposit down right away.

    Hey all,
The VIN the dealer gave me for the allocation is no longer a valid VIN after it's been pulling up my truck for weeks on Toyota's website.
Is this a good thing? Making me anxious since I can't check on it's status now.

It must have been a temp vin and now the truck is built and gets a permanent vin. You can reach out to your dealership and ask for the permanent vin

I am hoping that is the case, I didn't know manufacturers do that. First time buying new.
I'm glad someone else also thinks that!

Did the old VIN have any letters in the last 6?

It is how it works. Your temp vin had a letter in the last 6 digits and now the last 6 digits are all numbers

Yeah, from what I understand if there's a letter in the last 6 it's a temp number

Thanks everyone, my salesman gives me no updates or lead times so I've been stressing over here. Feel better now.

Bought a 2022 SR5 DCSB 4x4 AT /Magnetic Gray Metallic today for $500 under MSRP. Having a moonroof put in and remote starter added (remote starter was free). I also traded aluminum running boards for a tonneau cover and mudflaps. I think I did well. Picking it up next week!! Nice retirement present. IMG_0867.jpg IMG_0868.jpg

Congrats on the truck. Still waiting on an allocation for my specific build and have been living vicariously through others who are at the end of the wait. But I had to tell you… I’d rethink adding an aftermarket moonroof. Aftermarket sunroofs and moonroofs are notorious for having issues. At the top of that list is leaks. And I would bet good money adding it will hurt resale value and future market appeal if you were to sell the truck later… and don’t forget the likely negative effects to your factory paint and warranty that could result from cutting a hole in the roof. Despite what the shop or dealer says that is selling and installing it, it won’t look like an OEM roof and it won’t perform like OEM. My $.02. Buyer beware.

My wife and I are 3 for 3 when we added moonroofs to our vehicles (2 SUV's and 1 sedan). Honestly no problems, leaks or issues with any of them. My hunting buddy added one to his 18 Taco and he's also had no issues. I understand the concerns and input about OEM, resale etc. I'm just going with my gut and if I mess it up then i'll deal with it later. Thanks for the congrats. Enjoy the long weekend.
