Along the lines of Karbarts last post how long have some of you waited to just get the vin/ allocation for a truck ? I to placed a deposit mid sept and haven’t heard anything yet. I only don’t care how long it takes to build and show up I’d more just like to know it’s a done deal and I’m getting it at some point

 

Depends what your waiting for. I've been waiting since March for an allocation on a pro at msrp, though I've told them I only want one color.

sheesh Ok now I don’t feel so bad.. yeah my dealer is not doing markups it’s at msrp. I thought they could request a color change if everything else was how you requested ? Im waiting on a access can off road so I guess a little more rare than all the double cabs that are around.

 

They can ask for the color change but it's not going to always happen. I was told 6-9 months by my dealer for the pro in gray so we'll see.

My understanding was- they can drop port adds but cannot change color.
My 21 I was able to get them to drop all port adds but they could not change color. Wanted AG but got black.
Ironically, I'm waiting on a TRD pro and want grey. It's going to be... black. Different dealer and they wouldn't
drop the port adds. Said they couldn't. When I made my final offer they were magically able to drop door paint protection to hit my #. I even offered to pay the profit they make on the port options and they claimed they can't do it. Which I know is BS.
So, I'm getting a $73 phone cable, $209 interior LED's, $899 side steps, $699 for 2 oil changes...
About to talk myself out of it! Better stop typing.

 

Picked mine up this evening! Haven’t done much besides put the car seat in, but awesome so far!

 

Unfortunately it is common. My truck sat in a rail yard for almost a month before it dawned on somebody to put it on a truck and deliver it to my dealer! I was good for the first 4 months of waiting, but the last month I was getting anxious. Maybe even a little mean.

Hang in there, you will get it.

I am new to this forum but not new to Toyotas. Just reserved my new ‘23 Tacoma TRD off-road M/T from a Dealer in central VT. I have had a ‘95 Tacoma, ‘06 Tundra, ‘14 Tundra, ‘16 Highlander, ‘18 Tacoma. This is the first vehicle I have purchased that was not actually on the lot. Dealer says delivery date between 10/24 and 11/18. Based on what I am reading here it could be later. I have the app and it shows 2miles on odometer last updated on 10/18.

Interesting, in the last 40 years my wife and I have purchased over 15 new vehicles, during that time I can think of only two which we purchased directly from what was on the lot. The reason? The first, back in 1985, was my car got stolen and stripped, so I needed a new car immediately to get me to work, and the second, back in 2008, I'd just taken a new job which was A) a long way from where I lived, B) my current ride was not terribly fuel efficient, and then C) (the straw which broke the proverbial camel's back), within one day both the brake and fuel lines started leaking; once again, I needed a car right freakin' now to get to work.
