My question is,if i can make a 2021 (last years )build on toyota.com build site ,can my dealer get that build ?(im in the southeast region btw ;()
Also if i can make a diffrent 2022 build but everything is perfect except for color out of stock ,is it still possible that one is already floating around the country at a dealership somewhere ?Lastly, can a dealer in one region get something from dealers in other regions and would i have to pay shipping?Thanx for any replies .

Going to say no to a 2021. They are building 2022s.

If you build a 2021 with the shopping tool, you can utilize the inventory check available on the site. It will check to see of there are any around close to your build. Chances are pretty slim unless you are looking for a 2wd SR, SR5 or Sport.

You'd have to expand your search area. Considering you seem to be looking for a '21MY, would have to be a considerably larger.

I'm fairly certain the search results are based off of your location.

    Sure did.

When I initially started looking for a Tacoma, I was between an SR5 and a Sport. Mostly '21my 2wd models kept coming up. There had been SRs sprinkled in there. But mostly sports and Sr5s.

Google the zip code for the areas you want to search. Put that zip code in for each area you search. It’s the only way to expand beyond your local area.

At this point you could assume they do not exist. Try auto trader or cars.com. just make sure to search new.

Agreed. Sports are relatively easier to find than Trail, OR, or Pro.

You’re not doing anything wrong. 2021’s do not exist in the areas you are searching. For instance, in my region there are only 2022 Tacoma’s yet no 2021’s but when I look at other vehicles, such as the Avalon, both 2021 and 2022 Avalons show up. You are just going to have to search every zip code in the country or go for a 2022. Tacoma’s are a HOT item and it’s no wonder there are little or none in the 2021 to choose from.

It seems like any zipcode in a certain region will yield the same results of any other zipcode in that region .So just search one zipcode per region which wouldnt be too bad( i think...)

Actually, in low population states it probably works but take Bend, Oregon vs Portland, Oregon. Right now Bend has 2 RAV4 hybrids in inventory and Portland has 9 in inventory. Billings, Montana, which is in the same region, has 5 in inventory. I found this out early on searching for a Tacoma.

It's what you will have to do. Especially if you want anything specific. If you just want a Tacoma, with little care as to what trim, options, or especially colour it is... search won't be so bad.

There is always used. Unfortunately the prices on used Tacos is entirely to close to a new one to justify it.

Yeah, I almost drove down to FL to pick up a 2020 Pro in AG with only 8k miles. But they wanted 3k more than what I'm getting my 22 Pro for. Glad I waited. Hopefully only a few more weeks for delivery.

Same for my Sport. No way I was going to pay 41k for a 3 year old TRD OR with 50k on it when a brand new Sport tagged out at 42. Locking diff or not, would have been a stupid decision. 3 month wait or not.

I seem to have lost it, does anyone have the typical status workflow Toyota uses?

Allocated -> Built -> Freight etc etc?
