How long did you have to wait for your factory 2022 order/request/whatever it is called?

Another option is look at that inventory thread which shows all vehicles in the US and see if your desired trim/combo is at another dealer - then go fly to pickup or ship it back to you.

New to TacomaWorld, just put a deposit on 2023 Magnetic Gray Trail Edition. Due to the scarcity of Tacomas of any flavor in my area, I had to go with a dealership 300+ miles from home. I have a temporary VIN of 3TMCZ5AN5PM03C125. The dealership stated arrival in Late March. Is there a way to figure out when it will be built. Dealership states allocation has already been given to them for this vehicle. In additon, I found it through Toyota inventory search and for some reason, I can no longer find it through the search. Anything to worry about?

@DragonPro23 It seems you have some magic access that can give details on these things. Any help is greatly appreciated.

I ordered my Tacoma (TRD Off-Road, double cab, short bed, MT, premium package, Lunar Rock) on 11/4/22. Just spoke with the dealer - it is arriving there today and I should be able to pick it up Monday afternoon, 1/30/23.

 

You were able to order? All the dealerships around my area said they only were able to see allocations twice a month and then I would be able to see what was available. I called multiple dealerships in my area and they told me the same, so thought they weren’t lying. I guess they were, oh well my deposit is already on that Magnetic Grey one. Hopefully the Tacomas continue to keep their great residual value. I could have gotten the exact model Ford Ranger I wanted for cheaper. I hate being lied to by the dealers. I thought it would be different with Toyota, guess it’s not.

And nice choice on the manual transmission, there was only one within 500 miles of me that was available. When I called dealership they stated it already had a deposit on it.

 

sorry this off topic but are you guys getting extended warranties ? I gotten on my 2006 Taco but never needed it . but I recall I got it much cheaper from other dealer offers on here.. I know some dealers offer better discounts than other,, unfortunately my dealer does not

 

I'd be happy if the came on mine... I have FS AT 265/70/16 on my TRD now very happy with them. an aggressive tire is not a big deal for me now...

 

I don't think they are lying to you. I have spoken with about 15 different Toyota dealers across 4 states, they all said the same about the allocation system. Even when I asked specifically about doing a factory order, they all said that Toyota was not currently accepting direct orders. Just the allocation system.

I think sometimes when people mention ordering a Taco, they are referring to putting a deposit on one that is allocated to the dealer. Or, in my case, I put a deposit on a potential future allocation to save a spot in line. Then when they got an allocation meeting my requirements, I get first dibs on that allocation.

Good luck with your purchase. Seems like some have had really good luck getting what they want in a pretty quickly.

 

"Order" Well I've read up on how Toyota builds vehicles. Dealers don't really get to order, the best they can do is hope that the factory is going to produce something really close to what the customer wants, then add the options that are "Port Installed" or installed at the dealership. I originally asked for a lesser premium package without the Multi-Terrain monitor, but the factory wasn't allocating any with that particular combination to the west coast, so I had to spend the extra dollars to get the moonroof, which was my objective.

It was my good fortune that the salesperson I'm working with just happens to be the General Manager and he went to bat for me to get the allocation as soon as he could and, except for the wrong premium package, is exactly what I wanted (though I would have preferred calvary blue or army green, but they aren't available any more).

 

No magic - I work at a dealership so I have access to the inventory system. FYI, since you are in the Southeast Toyota region I will not be able to track your vehicle beyond production. For some reason they use a separate inventory system and even a different division of Toyota Financial from the rest of the US.

Cavalry blue and army green are both great colors. I was originally trying to get a 22 OR in army green. Was a little bummed that it didn’t work out.

You would need someone who works at a Toyota dealer in your region. I don’t know if we have anyone on the board employed at an applicable dealership.

 

Your the man Dave! Thanks for easing my mind about it. It's been a roller coaster trying to find the color i wanted with a M/T local so I finally had to find one a few states over. Hopefully it comes through and I guess I may ask again after a month or so to see it's progress. Again thank you for looking these up for everyone, I know we all appreciate it !
