Man I can’t handle 125 more days of this. Did you ever have the option to switch to another truck that might have arrived sooner? At that point I’d think that trucks built later than yours that weren’t affected by the recall probably got on the ground before yours did.

Child safety anchors in the backseat…possibly had insufficient welds…mine was part of the recall but didn’t have bad welds but was a QC Hold for 125 days…

Nice truck! Did you know all along that it would be on hold for 125 days or is that just how long it ended up taking?

    Dragonpro23,

Could you please run a vin for me and perhaps shed some light on what exactly I signed up for with Toyota? What I thought was suppose to be a new build, may be, from what I understand, an 'Allocated' vehicle?? Any help on this would be greatly appreciated.

It started at 30 days and they just kept adding time…I’m sure this won’t end up being like my nightmare. They lack of information was the hard part, I knew more by digging for information than I received from the dealership

Yep! Just having no idea how long to expect is much worse than it just being delayed. And you’re right about digging for information. I’m pretty sure I know more about Toyota manufacturing and logistics than my dealer does at this point.

A "allocated vehicle" becomes a new build. The part that sucks is how long it's going to take for said vehicle to be built and hit the dealer lot. Some times its streamline, and other times as you see here vehicles get held for what seems like ever.

Since you’re in SE Toyota region I can’t track your vehicle beyond build date.

    PLANT/BUILD INFORMATION
    Build Date: 01/31/2023
    Hold Status: Not on Hold

Regarding what you signed up for, there is no such thing as a “factory order” with Toyota. We put in preferences for specific vehicles and hope that Toyota will build what we ask for. Sometimes they do, sometimes they don’t. Sometimes we have to try changing packages and/or accessories after a vehicle is allocated to our dealership to match what a customer wants.

Every new Toyota starts by being allocated to a dealership. The hope is that the initial build, or modified build, matches what your customer is looking for when all is said and done.

    Here’s what you have reserved:

    Tacoma TRD Off-Road 3.5L V6 engine AT 4x4 5-ft. bed Double Cab - Black / Black

I can't check dealer info, but sometimes I can find out some info depending on the rail the vehicle is moving on.

This particular Taco arrived in Kansas City, MO at 0016 today.

At some point it will interchange from the BNSF railway to Norfolk Southern (it looks like this happened in KC) and then (I think) it will be on its way to Georgia.

No ETA to Georgia yet that I see, but should only be a couple of days if it has interchanged.

It could sit at the destination rail for several days or more.

    EDIT:
This has moved to the NS rail, and should arrive at the Commerce, GA ramp on 2/26 (subject to change) and would then be trucked to the final destination. It was passing through Missouri City, MO at 1936 (CT, I presume) early this evening.

Is the VIN lookup only available for VIN's in production? I've got a temp VIN for 2023 that's tentatively due at the end of March. Hasn't been built yet or is in the process.

The temp serial will bring up the build specs and scheduled production date. Once the truck is built and assigned a VIN number you will need the VIN to track progress.

I wok for a trucking company that handles intermodal freight, so I'm on the rail websites constantly 5-7 days a week.

On the BNSF site, if a car/truck is traveling (even part of the way) on their system, I can track it by the VIN. I discovered this when I ordered mine this past October. If it is interchanging to another rail, I may or may not be able to trace it further. It just happened with this one, I was able to track it via the rail car number on the NS system.

This particular unit passed through Moberly, MO just after 2300 last night; that's the last update I have for it.

Could you see if you can get any information for this one 3TMCZ5AN8PM562262? Should have started on BNSF and then I think transfer to NS to go to Princeton, IN. It’s supposed to be there by now, but the dealer can’t see if it’s arrived or not since the truck has been placed on hold.
