Are you able to see any history for rail car number CN711954? Started on BNSF then transferred to NS.

Yeah I don't think they hold them at the build plant in Mexico, they get them moving and will pay for the "port" to fix or inspect them. I am also assuming if they caught something then they already fixed it at the production facility but that have to essentially look at a date range and say we need to check everything built from 1/9-2/15 or whatever the dates are.

Yeah I was assuming the second one. They found a QC issue on a truck but now have to back and recheck a whole date range to make sure they aren’t others with the same problem.

Call the police and tell them it’s stolen and to use the SOS feature to find it. Lol

Maybe not “stolen”, but I think it would be completely truthful to say the truck is currently being “held hostage” lol

I show this was in Princeton, IN on 2/23. It was "released loaded" there- I am not overly familiar with the vernacular when it comes to rail cars, but I would guess that means your truck was unloaded on the 23rd.

If you're in Indiana (or near Princeton), that's good news. If you are expecting your truck somewhere else, I can't tell you much else without the VIN.

My truck last year was held for the recall at port. I found the recall using the Toyota app then searching it on https://www.toyota.com/recall and knew before the dealer. My truck was probably close to 60 days in the QC hold before the recall was publicized. I know how the unknown will drive you nuts, at this point it’s all speculation. It really could be a number of things and Toyota won’t tell you if your pants were on fire.

Thanks for the info. I’ve been checking the recall site since this started and my VIN has been clean so far. But I was afraid of exactly what you said. It might be a long time before the issue is actually declared a “recall” and shows in the database. It’s so frustrating that Toyota is so tight lipped. I would be happy with just a rough estimate from them on how long this will be on hold. 2-3 weeks? Or 2-3 months?

This tracks with what I thought. The truck was supposed to get off the rail at the Toyota logistics center in Princeton and then get on a truck to go to the dealership. But I’m assuming it will sit in a parking lot in Princeton until the hold is lifted.

That’s correct. Toyota won’t release a vehicle to the dealership until the hold is lifted.

My dealer is telling me the hold now has a message that says to check back Fridays at 12pm for updates. Not sure that’s a good sign for this being quick…

Might be a ok sign if they think they will have new info on Fridays. At least it’s not a damage or recall hold

I took it more as “this will take a while, so don’t expect info any more frequently than once a week.” But I’m probably being pessimistic. I think the jury is still out on if this turns into a recall. @thehills1234 said his truck was on hold for about 60 days before it showed up as recall last year. I’m probably being pessimistic but I’m at the point where I’m expecting it to be months before the hold is lifted. I hope I’m wrong but they’ve put all Tacomas from about a month long build window in hold. It’s going to take a while to clear something like that up. If they would actually tell us information I wouldn’t have to automatically assume the worst case scenario…

VINs from both plants that make Tacomas are hold.
