Yep. My local dealer still updates me on their allocations and they still haven’t been allocated what I asked for. Lunar Rock OR premium package. It’s been over four months.

I like to play devils advocate. Why wouldnt toyota ramp production back up when able. I actually think there are more tacomas on lots, but there are also certain models/features that are hard to find. IDK, if this math (lower prod, higher demand/prices) is better, why weren't they doing it before. I wonder if demand is still higher than normal, backed up from the couple years of really low prod, which could also be skewing things.

I’m sure it’s a mix of both in reality, but in my area there NO tacomas on the lots of any model. I drive by the local dealership all the time on my commute. I’d wager Toyota is probably trying to find the balance of making JUST enough cars.

How can there be literally less than 10 new Toyota vehicles in a metro area of 500k. If you include New Orleans there are more 1 million people and there are probably less than 50 new cars on lots in that area. I can’t imagine that it’s ever coming back to normal as it’s not just Tacomas it’s every model. There are ZERO Tacomas on lots within 250 miles of my house. It’s insane. Prior to the pandemic, my local dealer had close to 75 Tacomas on their lot regularly. For 2 years for sure probably closer to 3, they have zero on the lot; rarely does one make it to lot NOT pre-sold.

Well there are probably some regional differences, I'm in the north east, and I feel like I see more cars on lots than there had been. I guess we'll see. Maybe manufactures are trying to kill the dealer, pretty sure Ford did some stuff with the lightning that wasn't very dealer friendly. I just find it hard to believe that companies aren't trying to build and sell as many vehicles as possible.

I had similar issues. Been wanting a manual trans since lunar rock came out on the pro. So 2021 or so. The market was crazy and all the lots were empty and I just waited. This is also when I test drove a truck a used 2017 silver offroad with manual transmission. So the next year 2022 the lunar rock color came to the offroad trim and in March 22 I put requests in a few dealers in san antonio for a LR off road with the manual transmission. Was told 3 months or less. After waiting and waiting and no help form any sales person locally or any effort on there part. I called around and one white OR MT came up local but someone jumped on it before I could.
This is when I searched to other dealers in Texas. One dealer in Dallas promised the could get the truck I wanted but they had a 10k market adjustment so I stopped looking for a while. I started my internet search nation wide in Jan and found every allocated LR OR with a MT I could find and every one had deposit on it or was pre sold. One dealer called me back and found me one so I threw my deposit down on a dealer 12 hours and 3 states away. Truck got built last week. So I'm sill waiting lol sucks not being able to even find a handful of manual trucks in Texas to even consider the last couple years. The dealer close to me has almost zero inventory. The one on the other side of town has more stock but nothing I wanted.

Companies are going to do what ever makes them the most amount of money. Which might not actually be selling as many vehicles as possible.

I looked on Autotrader yesterday and there are only 13 manual TRD Pros listed nationwide. I’m willing to be they all already have deposits on them. Unfortunately Toyota seems to not be interested in making many manuals anymore. I would’ve preferred to get a manual but I had a hard enough time finding an automatic like I wanted.

I would tend to agree that I would think they would want to sell as many as possible but I think they are hedging their bet since the economy is stagnating overall. Maybe, they have hiked the price enough to match the volume reduction. It’s possible that since I am on the border of two regional distributor mafias, Gulf Coast and Southeast Toyota maybe Toyota is trying to hurt my region more. Who knows but never in my life have so many dealerships have so few vehicles. Nissan and GM dealerships seem to have more than others. Finding a Civic in my area is almost non existent. Actually all CHEAP models, Corollas, Civics, Sentra are non existent. You want an $80k Truck or a $ 65k 4xE Jeep are about the only vehicles on lots.

Yea it sucks. I really didn't care about the trim but loved the lunar rock color and once it came out I had to have one. I kind of wanted a trail edition but they are only auto trans so I ended up at and offroad. Always have driven manual and with all the gear hunting complaints I didn't want to settle for anything less. Still not gonna believe it till I'm driving off the dealer lot. It's been a roller coaster trying to Give money to toyota.

I’m currently driving a manual 2000 Tacoma. Would’ve loved to have another manual but it was just too hard to find one. It is crazy that it’s this hard to give somebody $40k+ for something.

No joke, you think I want to give you $40k and there is minimal haggling since no one has any trucks. I couldn’t believe how little my local dealer cared to try to get what I wanted or did any work to swap an allocation or anything. I had to drive a long way to get what I wanted. So far I really like it.

Awesome truck! That was my second color choice behind lunar rock. I talked to so many different dealers during my search. Hardly any of them were good to work with. And most had crazy “market adjustments”. I ended up being able to put a deposit on one at MSRP. I flat out refused to pay market adjustments even if that meant I missed out on something.

One dealer tried a $25k market adjustment. I was floored they were trying to charge me after all other fees and markups $73k for a Tacoma.

Nice im in a civic si currently so ill miss the mpg and the sporty feeling but I figured if I couldn't find what I was looking for I'd find a 1st gen and go from there. ( don't like the 2nd gen dash ) it'll be worth the wait for us all.

Thank you, I see that now. The Original date was suppose to be yesterday, then was switched to 3/21/2023, now they're saying it's being held somewhere for an additional 40 days and have given me a new date of May 2023. I guess it's pointless to try demanding the return of my earnest money??? This shit is aggravating.
