How long did you have to wait for your factory 2022 order/request/whatever it is called?

On the Tacoma, the moonroof is a part of the premium package. On other vehicles we often see separate options available, but in practice, Toyota won’t necessarily build it that way.

 

We bought a '22 4runner SR5 Premium last year without a sunroof or 3rd row seats. That's pretty uncommon?

 

Interesting, same status as last week. Wonder if it's stuck in IL or if it actually made it to Buffalo.

 

Not really - I’ve seen many SR5 Premium 4Runners without one or both options. The challenge is that Toyota changes things on the fly, and right now, in my region, you can’t request a truck optioned that way.

Prior to every allocation lock my inventory manager accesses Toyota’s build book. She then requests all the vehicles that we have taken orders for during the prior period. The problem arises when the system won’t allow an order for a specific build. Even if the system allows it because it is a “valid” build, there is no guarantee that Toyota will build it, be it next week, next month, or ever.

To complicate matters further, different regions often get different vehicles. A vehicle in a certain color with certain options may not be available to request here in my region, but it may be available in a neighboring region, and vice versa.

With reduced inventory levels, Toyota really needs to streamline and improve our ability to get vehicles built to order.
