Well, cool! I'm happy with that. It will be interesting to see if it really takes 24 days to get to GST in Houston. I'll check back late in the week to see if we can get a rail car id.
And, @Cetacean Sensation I feel for ya. I really hope everything is ok and they get your Taco to you quickly. Beautiful color, BTW.

They drive it onto and off of the ship, then onto the rail car. This is very good news! It is on its way!!!

Hi, new guy here. I tried to go through all 800+ pages to get an idea of what’s going on but decided to just ask here and now:

I put in an order for a 2023 Lunar Rock MT OR Premium at my dealer on April 11th.

I got an automated email saying… “This is a quick follow up to let you know your order has been inputted and accepted in our system. I will continue to reach out from time to time to check in and give you updates as things progress.”

What does this actually mean? Is it a first step in the process only and not a guarantee or does this mean I will get what I want?

The salesman said ‘the order is placed…no ETA yet’. In the meantime, I’ve let a few non premium MT ORs get away at nearby dealerships. I placed the order not wanting to pay the $5k premium most dealers are charging for a MT.

I don’t want the next gen (2024) so there really isn’t a lot of wiggle room as we get into summer…

Until a vehicle is allocated by Toyota to your dealership that matches your build, nothing is guaranteed. Once this happens, your dealer will have a temp serial number for your truck, build details (model number, trim, color, options, etc.) and an estimated build date. At THAT point you can be reasonably certain that you will get your truck, but it may still be 2-3 months away depending upon where it’s built and where the destination is.

You should keep in contact with your dealer and ask if the truck has been allocated. If they tell you it has they should be able to provide a temp serial which is trackable. If it hasn’t, you may want to keep looking or risk not getting one at all. Gen 3 production will likely end at the end of November, so the window is closing, especially for a very specific build with M/T.

Thanks for the quick and concise response!
I suppose I need to decide whether to simplify the build request or jump on the next truck at a dealership despite mark-up.

Well it’s official. Got my allocation today. Have waited since 8/25/2022 (257 days) aka 8 months & 2 weeks. I was getting worried about never getting allocated a 2023 and ending up in a 2024.

I asked for a Tacoma Pro in any color other than that Lime Green from last year.

What are my next steps? I’ve heard y’all talk about an app and seeing when the doors are locked/unlocked. How do I set that up?

@DragonPro23 3TYCZ5AN2PT140198 was on the build sheet. Is that a temp VIN or the real deal?

Here is the breakdown on what I’m getting (no dealer markups)

2023 Tacoma Pro in MGM $49890
    Pkgs / Accessories $3806
    Delivery / Processing / Handling $1495
    TOTAL $55191

Bed Extender (will take off and sell)
    Cargo Bed Light
    Connectivity Kit (meh)
    Integrated Dash Cam (meh)
    Door Sill Protectors
    Mud Guards
Predator Tube Steps (will take off and sell)
    Power Tailgate Lock
    Vehicle Protection Pkg (meh)
    Lifetime Window Tint (meh)
Vehicle Guard (no clue what this is, probably some paint protection BS)

To be honest, the only thing I hate is the window tint. I’d much rather have some legit ceramic stuff put in down here in Texas.

It’s been a helluva a ride so far, looking forward to her arriving!

Congrats! It’s got a lot of extra shit though! It’s a shame you had to wait this long to have to deal with what looks like a scum bag dealer! Just my opinion!

For sure.. but it was cheaper than the $3500-$7500 some dealerships were adding onto PROs as a market adjustment.

Like dragon said you need to see if it's allocated and if it is get the temp vin number. Either way this late in the year I would check Edmunds and car gurus, autotrader, cars ect all the car sites for what you want and call every last dealer with a truck that matches what you want. You can find one this way and find out if they offer msrp and also put a deposit ( sometimes refundable sometimes not) on the truck already allocated but not sold to secure what you want. I found what I wanted this way and flew 2 states away to get it and drove back 900 miles. Was a fun adventure in the new truck.

I want a new 2023 truck before production ends and the 4th gen begins. Do I have the time to begin the process and what are your thoughts about the price fluctuating before or after the full reveal on the 19th?

    thanks lads/ladies

Start looking for inbound and in stock units in your area https://www.toyota.com/search-inventory/model/tacoma/?zipCode=03103.

The allocation for new units is determined by Toyota and not dealers, so it is high risk to think your dealer will receive an allocation for exactly what you want with only three more months of production left for 2023 Tacomas.

Just went thru this and found an in transit unit that was an 80% solution. Not exactly what I wanted for options, but the unit was available, not loaded with dealer installed options and discounted $1300.
