Can you help me track my vin? I think the dealer I put a deposit with is playing games with me. I had put down $1k to hold the truck and was able to track it through the Toyota tracker app, which showed that it was on ground may 12th. I called the dealer last week and was told it would be 3-4 weeks out... I was confused about how that happened, so I spoke to someone in a fb Toyota group and had them track my vin, and now I’m thinking the dealer sold the truck out from under me. Well yesterday, I called the dealer and spoke to the manager, and she told me it’s now 5-6 weeks out. I’m about to get my deposit back and stick with my 2nd option, but has anyone had something similar happen to them? My vin number is 3TYCZ5AN0PT142760, I don’t want to bash the dealer but rn it’s not looking good lol. Can I have a second person here check the vin rq to double everything?

Are you talking about the online Toyota Tracker? Or Did you try loading the Toyota App on your phone and put the VIN in as yours? If someone else has it now I’d assume the Toyota App would be telling. If that happened I would have no mercy on a dealer. Being lied to is unacceptable, as a customer especially. But be sure that’s the case.

I tracked the vehicle from the online Toyota tracker that’s not in the official app!

Load the Toyota App on your phone and put the VIN in. Idk but I’d assume it would show it has miles on being driven by someone else or it won’t let you load that VIN because someone else has it. Just guessing. That App let’s you know when doors are open, how many miles are on it and even if that gas tank is empty or full. Once you own it I think it gives you service engine updates.
That was a good color, model, and price you have ordered…..

This happened to me too! My sales rep didn't say that to me though. But he texted me, saying he didn't have a build date for my truck yet but had one in a different color available. I had my eye on their website where they had the exact truck I ordered listed and told him I was hoping that one was mine. He checked and there wasn't a name on it so he put my name on it. About a month later they listed the same truck with the "Call to Reserve Now" banner on it so I assume that's my original truck I was supposed to be getting. Another 2 of the same trucks are now listed as well but without the Reserve banner. Apparently Lunar Rock Off-Road 6' Bed with Advanced Tech and Premium Off-Road Package are incredibly popular in my area!

I say if you aren't compromising on anything that YOU want for the truck that has a build date, go for it.

My husband keeps trying to tell me to wait for the 2024 but I am strongly against it; I will never buy a vehicle the first year of a remodel ever again. Although it would be fun since my previous cars were 1994 and 2014; I am now facing issues with my 2014 which is a first year remodel that they fixed for the second year. I'm not willing to deal with that no matter what the 24 has "improved" upon.

This is almost exactly the same info from Gulf States Toyota the local dealer shared with me. They don't believe it either. The difference is that the info for mine included a rail ship date of 5/12/2023. After a lot of discussion, we came to the conclusion that GST expects the vehicles to be in Houston about the 23rd. There are a lot of Tacomas on the railcars, the estimate is many hundreds. That means quite a bit of work to add things at GST before they are trucked to the dealer. Late May / early June is probably the right time frame for that, which more aligns with the info from @DragonPro23.
If you look closely at the info, their railhead departure/arrival more aligns with the truck move to Lazaro Cardenas. GST seems to take a lot of liberty with the real data from Toyota. Remember, GST has their own system for tracking info for the dealers, and they can really put anything they want in it, reality or not.
At present, we are looking for a notification from the Toyota App for movement/door opens. That will indicate unloading of the trucks in Houston. Then we will need to find ways to stay calm for maybe a week until we get the call from the dealer...
After that, be sure to remember to take and post pictures of our new babies!

People are seriously still buying 3rd gen Tacomas with the amazing looking 4th gen right around the corner? Y’all are nuts

the 3rd gen tacoma is no where near the refinement of the 4th gen and will drop majorly in value IMO

"Amazing looking"? That is your only criteria when spending $40k+ on a vehicle? I may be nuts since I have a '23 but not a dumba$$. I'm sure that I'm not the only one that purchases a proven reliable vehicle rather than a first year run of a new design that hasn't even had a road test review yet.

yes I am other seriously are. A 2023 is proven and reliable at this point. It will serve me well for the next 5-7 years till they get all the bugs ironed out and then I’ll consider stepping into a 4th gen. As far as value drop look back at previous Tacomas these things hold their value very well. And not to mention what is the new one going to cost ? Prob close to 65 all loaded up

Took one look at the knuckle buster ohh shit handle next the six speed and bolted on nav screen ripped straight out of the Corolla and said, "nah man. Giving this a pass until the refresh."

Also, why would I wait 2 years to buy a Tacoma at a markup when I want a truck today at MSRP?

Let's see. Lost my van last October, studied what I wanted, decided, then placed the deposit in December. In about two weeks my new 2023 red TRD Sport DCSB will be sitting in my driveway. Now why would I want to delay things and wait until well into next year for something else that may not be what I really want? I mean, I am really good at designing and debugging things, but I don't really want to debug someone else's new design...

What a shitshow. Ran the specs of my allocated vehicle that is supposed to arrive shortly. Interior color doesn’t match what I was promised and reserved. Dealer is now trying to tell me that sometimes the specs can change once the car goes into production. Is this true? I think they are full of it. Ironically enough another allocation the exact color combo is on time arriving this weekend and was reserved ahead of mine... Something tells me they made an error and put my name under the wrong one, then someone else came and claimed the one I was promised. Now they don’t want two unhappy customers so I’m getting the short end of the stick. Dealer is allegedly scrambling trying to find me another long bed of my liking now. Anyone been in a similar situation?
