This is exactly what the dealer has been saying. The trucking company will only send a full load to the dealership so they aren't receiving any vehicles. I am well aware of the trucker shortage so I tend to believe them. It's hard to be patient sometimes.

Yes totally agree. bought ours as a 3 year old lease return with 80K KMS. Only one issue was a faulty throttle body at $1K and burnt out cats near the end. We had 270K trouble free Kilometres (167K miles) but was well maintained. Always liked to drink a little oil between oil changes. Was possibly looking at more engine work so yes was time to move on. 4 spd A/T was awesome too. Wife and young kids were tough on it but it held up very well. They changed for the worse in 2005.

My local dealer's website says they have 12 Tacomas (all automatics) - but every single one looks like this:

Yeah - lol - I think they are just being lazy with the initial pics. All 12 have VINs, however - and none are *my* truck.

I’m getting back in the Tacoma game after selling my 2018 in early 2020. I’m kicking myself for that now. I talked to my dealer and they’re doing MSRP with no mandatory add ons, so I got on the waitlist. For a 6MT he said about 4 months due to the number of people they have in line so far. I’m not in a rush so it’s worth the wait to get what I want. He said the only three things (at least for their customer want list) that would slow down delivery was wanting the premium package, Lunar Rock or Army green.

Sigh... I put in my order for a LR or AG OR with the premium package 11/24/21 and another on 1/7/22 I have one dealer sending me their allocations so i can decide if I want to pull the trigger on something. They both told me 3 months, but I haven't heard anything from 11/24 dealer so I'm not getting my hopes up. I totaled my 2017 2WD OR premium in november I really don't want to come off any of it but I'm starting to get worried about how long it's going to take. /rant

I’ve been following this thread so I probably may have missed it but I was able to get the official vin the other day and trials started with Safety Connect. Today in the app it shows 0 on the odometer and showing some gas on the gauge. Tire pressure is still N/A. All of the stats have been blank for the pass few days. Is there anything that can possibly show up in the app to look out for as far as how close the truck is? Where it’s located and whatnot.

I had the best luck when I actually went into the dealer. I had called 5 others and went into one other. The one I went into first I was put on a list. If I would of stayed on that list I would have gone into the dealer every week to inquire. Then four of the other dealers never called back except for one but by that time I had gotten an allocation. So my point is don’t just sit back and wait. Start going in so they know how serious you are. Just my opinion and I do understand some are searching out of state but even then most states are not selling to out of state buyers. I wish everyone the best of luck finding exactly what they want. Personally I enjoy the suspense in the wait because the newness of the truck will wear off fast.

I was in the same boat, placed an 'order' for an AG TRD off road on 10/29.. after 3 months of waiting I got impatient and started calling all over the place. Got lucky and found an allocation for what I wanted plus a few extras about 3 hours away

I put my deposit on 12/23/22 for a white TRD OR 4x4 so hopefully I get an update soon or something. I can’t wait for my new Tacoma!

Here’s something I don’t think I’ve seen mentioned before, it’s part fun fact in part may be a reason why trucks may sit at the factory while they say they’re built.

Toyota, unlike other manufacturers, gives anyone in the factory the opportunity to stop the entire factory line process from moving.

Hear that again; they can shut down the entire process over one little thing.

So if they see something that’s not up to the quality standards, they give a normal builder that opportunity. Now I believe this makes for higher quality vehicles and for less bugs to be released, so it’s pretty cool but also maybe that is why sometimes there are delays. I can’t remember where I watched or read this but someone can back me up on it I assume

What I did was find dealers in my area that had the KBB (Kelley Blue Book) Instant Cash Offer link on their web site. I completed the process for several. I ended up getting 2K more than Carmax offered and $1,400 more than I paid for it in 2019. This was on my garage kept, low mileage Honda Ridgeline so YMMV. The catch is you may be a while without a set of wheels if you sell before you buy. In my case it was no problem because I drive a company vehicle to/from work and we have a "spare" Camry in the Family.

I found it to be much easier to deal with no trade-in to be used as a lever against me. Best of luck!

I've seen that exact video. It may have been posted somewhere in this thread as well.

Edit: It is called Kaizen or something.
