    .
A lot of OEM batteries are now .. "Low-Bid ElCheapo"s. ..... My wife's 19 month old 2008 Subaru Impreza just went out.

I replaced the OEM battery with a ... "Yellow Top Optima Battery" ... and I love it.

When a battery starts to get weak ... I am concerned about a ... "mini-battery-acid-explosion" ... under the hood.

I know of several new Tundras that this happen to ... and it was a giant mess for the dealer to fix correctly.

Paint, component, electrical & wiring and rust damage (from acid) everywhere (under the hood) on a new Tundra. ...

When my battery gets the least bit weak on the 2009 Taco ... I will get a Optima Battery. ... :D

The battery should be well within warranty. I believe the stock batteris are warranteed to 5 years.
Does the starter sound like its not as powerful? If the starter is firing fine then the problem isn't the battery. Lately, my truck is startin to startin to take longer to fire up. I think its the summer vs winter gas.

2 years. Bought a new one at Sam's. I work there and made sure it was a "New" one. They have a 3 year free replacemant warranty and had to replace it at 25 months when I had my headlights on for 5 minutes to iluminate a chainsaw in the driveway to cut firewood last Thanksgiving and the truck wouldn't start. Let's hope for the best.

My truck was purchase April of 05 as new. I've still got the same battery in it. It's not even showing signs of needing replacement.

Bought mine December 30 of 06. Original battery and mine sits in the garage all week and for the most part is only driven on weekends and vacations.
I've put 21k miles on it.

The only way to find out, is load testing the battery.

My 97 Tacoma had the factory battery the day I sold it for my 08. And I was living in MT and ND until 06. I also had a winch mounted on that truck. I can't recall any specific incident where I drained it to the point of needing a boost, but I'm sure I did.
I believe the longevity of a battery is purely determined by the life it led. If it was constantly drained from dome lamps requiring a boost, then you get less useful life.

yea maybe its more of a weak starter....because the fact that i can let my radio run for an hour or so and it'll still start up...so maybe its not hte battery. i just had the spark plugs replaced at my 30k check up....could it be the actual starter itself?

    14 years, one battery???

The battery in our 2000 Camry V6 went almost 8 years (it died at 78,000 miles). That's gotta be some kinda record.

1 week! It had been sitting on a dealer's lot since June of last year. I picked it up on March 12th, the battery was dead on March 21st. And of course that was a Saturday so I had to wait until Monday to get it to the dealer. It only had about 200 miles on it at the time.

Bought in August 2005, battery died sometime in spring '07.
Lots of corrosion, must have been the summer heat.

Yeah same battery! I think its a panisonic that was OEM. They charge us more in Canada for Toyota's, Toyota Canada says we get upgraded Batts and Alternator???? maybe they were not lying.

Had to replace mine today. 2010 with 71,000 miles. This last winter was pretty brutal in Wisconsin, a lot of negative temp days. I hardly ever run my AC.
