Just figured out my '14 has a programming flaw with the headlights auto off. The light turn themselves off when i open the driver's door. However if you exit the by any other door the lights stay on and runs the battery dead.

Or if you turn on the ignition switch from the passenger seat with the lights on they stay on when u turn the ignition off and exit from the passenger door.

I normally leave my lights on since they turn off when I open the driver door.

I left a window down as I was leaving the truck and jumped in the passenger door to raise the window. My light were left on several hours. I had no idea the lights came on and didn't cut themselves off from the passenger door.

I work at a dealership. There's no telling whether your truck had it's battery drained while sitting on the lot. All too often a light gets left on or something and it may sit there completely dead for even a couple weeks. Can't be good for the long term. Vehicles sitting on the showroom floor often go dead, too. They are usually recharged quickly, though. This happens repeatedly sometimes which can't be good for the battery life. I figure this explains the varying results. In most cases the battery has never died before purchase, but I wouldn't be too surprised if it was 1/10.

Had to replace my factory battery this morning. 2010 taco with 84k. Could run all accessories but not enough cold cranking amps to turn it over.

My '06 still has the original battery & hasn't shown any signs of getting weak.

Update: As reported above, the stock battery lastest 3 years and 3 months. The replacement battery just died last week while I was in Baja... at a gas station... it wouldn't crank, during a 3,000 mile trip with no problems before, after 2,000 miles! That battery lasted 5 years and 5 months. There was an Auto Zone a block from the gas station, so after a jump start, I got it there and had a new battery installed. Saved the day... at Ciudad Constitucion, Baja California Sur!

I've made it a habit to replace my battery every 4 years regardless. Also all my drives are about 15 minutes and I rarely drive longer than that. This along with Texas heat for 4 summers. So cheap insurance to not get stuck somewhere.

Dealer replaced right at 2 years 25k miles during routine service. Said it tested bad, I had no signs up to that point.

Stealth Mounted 32" bar, Roof mounted 52" bar, ditch lights, snorkeled rear diff. Other odds and ends. Currently in the build process.
Had my OEM battery until I got the truck airborne(all 4 tires off the ground about 2ft) (also on accident) and ruined a cell in the battery from the landing.. So 3 years or so?

Still running the OEM in my 2012. I check it every month or so with a meter and it's still holding charge well. Fired up all winter even on days -20f.

    A thing or two...
My truck will be 10 years old in November, and I just put in the 4th battery about a month ago. All the batteries so far have been Toyota batteries. The new battery that I just put in is an EverStart Maxx from Walmart.

bought my 2010 used so I dont know if the battery that was in it that died was the original (looked like it probably was), but I had to replace it in 2014. Been running an Optima 8037-127 D27F YellowTop Starting and Deep Cycle Battery since then (so for over 3 years as the starter battery) with no problems (knock on wood for when I drive home tonight).

I've had batteries last 5-6yrs, and a few that only lasted a year. You just never know, too many variables.

The only time I've had to replace my batteries is when relatives have not closed my door properly and the left on lights drained the battery. Pretty much kills it every time. It never maintains a charge after that.

I did leave my radio on in my truck all weekend one time in my Taco and the battery never died. Still going strong on my stock battery 5 years now.
