The last brake change after 100k miles of driving (first set lasted 100k miles) on my Corolla required new rotors (but not new calipers) because the rotor had slowly but inevitably changed over time.

Let them pay for new rotors and I bet their driving habits will change.

On my last truck, (2020 TRD sport DCLB) I got 168,000km out of the original pads and rotors before i traded it in. The front were basically metal to metal at that point.
I had ~1-2mm left in Feb 2023 when i ordered my 2023 i made it last another 15,000km and 4 months until June 2023 when i took delivery of my new one.
I hadnt ever taken the rear apart to check in the 3 years i owned the truck.

I coast when I can but I live in the city and tow my boat at least once a week when the weather is nice.

EDIT: 104,000 mi for the yankees

Just out the rotors and pads at 62k. I’m very gentle on brakes, I think, but I also go up and down steep mountains loaded with gear, and the OEM were quick to warp early on.

4 tacomas including a 92 hilux went 70-80k for OEM fronts, and never touched the rear in any. All sold between 140-180k miles. I tend to coast to red lights and when traffic is ahead. This obviously helps.

Sounds like a FIP is the equivalent of a CA plate here in Vegas. Those people who put passengers through erratic acceleration and braking belong in a place with each other because their awareness of what they are doing seems to be gone. Psychotic behavior if you ask me.

I got to around 90k for front brakes on my 2019. Haven't done rear brakes yet but my mechanic was saying it was urgent to get them done with 2-3mm left (don't they start with 5 or 6mm material?)

Took it to a Firestone center nearby and the guy said they don't need to be done yet. What measure do you guys get them done at?

FWIW, I spend plenty of time driving mountain roads but also not an aggressive driver and coast to stops when possible.

I got a little over 52k miles out of the front brakes. Took it to the dealer and had the pads replaced. Still on the originals for the rears.

I’m at 70k and the front pad wear indicators are chirping at slow speeds. When I swap out the winter wheels in a few weeks, I’ll check em.

that's me, just poo pooin' along haha.
I "only" drive 5-10 mph over the limit.
That said, I am poo pooin along in the right/correct lanes, so Ricky Bobby has one less truck to run off the road in his manic fit to be in first place.

Fronts, well past 40k EASY. Contrary to what my wife says I am light on the brake pedal. Rears seem to only get newer the more I use them. Changed at 95k and they still smelled like a dealership, cheap coffee and regret.

110K here and still going strong on all 4 corners. I do a lot of engine braking though so I'm sure that's a factor

My 18 had this issue at 45K. Also went with PowerStop - big difference and very happy with the result!

I've only had to replace pads on my Toyotas the last 20 years. I watch my brake pad wear closely every year on my cars and change pads before they damage the rotors. I also try not to brake hard and so far my strategy has been working. Drove my 04 Corolla 160K and just replaced pads only. My 13 Sienna has 80K with just pads replaced and my 17 Tacoma at 31K is any where near close for replacement yet. This to me is impressive because I had a Grand Prix and LeBaron that warped rotors several times. Even my Subaru Forrester was trouble prone with brake issues. Toyota must still be doing something right for me to keep doing this. When you start hearing the pad rivets make contact with the rotors they are junk.

I've never gotten more than 40k out of a set of pads until this truck. I got 83k out of them and probably could have gone another 10k. I don't know what they use in the OE formula, but it made it easy not to go with the cheap alternative dealer pads.

2019 with 70K miles right now, there is at least 1/8" friction material left on the pads, should be good for another 15-20k.

My 2016 had around 80K I think? Load Range E tires with a 600 pound in the back for 30K of those 80K

Im at 172'000 KMs on my factory brakes. I tow and haul often but mostly highway driving. Fronts are still strong with 6mm.

Never measured the rear but adjust the drums when I rotate my tires.
