I usually try to grease my U-joints every 10k miles at the very most, should I expect to get a few more years out of them? 150k on the odo.

I grease mine at least twice a year usually more and no problems yet. I followed the same schedule on my old 71 chevy pickup and never changed a u-joint in the almost 30 years I owned it.

I agree with what members are posting above ^^^^^^
If you keep up with the maintenance , there is no reason why they should fail .
U-joints are mechanical and need to be greased on a regular basis . If you take your truck swimming , flush the universal joints with grease when you get home .
Here is a good write up from federal Mogul about greasing drivelines

yep, the only reasons I find they fail (other then snapping then under extreme stress and over loading them) are because they run out of grease and rust, once it gets rust in there, its just a matter of time before it self destructs
