Never saw this thread the first time...

I only have 30k on my '06, and I put miles on really slow. I hope to keep the truck for many years. A buddy of mine and I are competing to see who can keep his longer. (He has the upper hand, though... he bought his '08 brand new.)

I have a history of getting something new (well... new to me) after a few years, but it's usually been b/c of some problem. As long as I take care of the Taco, I hope to be problem-free.

I'm hopeful that the over/under on the length of ownership of the truck is 10 years.

Maybe it's just me, but once I own a vehicle I'm in no hurry to get rid of it unless maintenance is bleeding me dry. :notsure: I hate car payments and car shopping/haggling sucks too. :puke:

To be fair, she really drives it during bad weather but lately that hasn't been the case. The funny thing is she has a newer car too (07 Camry), which was just rear ended only a few weeks ago. There was no major damage, but rather a few scuff marks that were buffed out and touched up in 1/2 day at the body shop. Unbelievably, this is the 3rd time this has happend to her over 2 different cars. :frusty: I'm sure others feel this way at times, but it seems some people just don't know how to drive or at least choose to do everything but drive. :pout:

I've always thought it was funny that people will buy a new car instead of replacing something expensive on their existing car. As if dropping (usually borrowing) $25k on a new ride makes more sense than dropping $2k for an engine overhaul.

Sometimes the old car just isn't worth the additional expense, but I know a lot of people who seem to be looking for the excuse to get into something new.

I'm sort of guilty. I had a 10 year old lincoln. It was in great shape, but it needed new motor mounts and some serious transmission work. It probably would have cost me at least $2000 to get it done, but then there was the concern that if I were to get into a wreck, the car would be effectively totalled with anything more than $3000 in damage.

I do regret trading it in and getting $2500 for it. I wish I had kept it and talking all the work myself while I was driving around in my new Tacoma.

    No performance stats.
I have about 312 HP with the TRD Exhaust.
    A nice fun option.

Do you have a link for the TRD exhaust option? Any caveats with it?

    A) Until the wheels fal off
    B) Until i have enough money in cash to buy a new car
    C) If it costs more money to fix it than the truck is worth which for a Toyota will be 15 years.

There are benefits to having newer vehicles other than the cost factor. Safety comes to mind. :D

Funny I used to trade when the ash tray got full or every two years when younger. Smoking was expensive!! ;)
