So I'm getting a new business up and running. Not ready to invest in a wrap just yet. So for now I'm going with vinyl decals/lettering.

Don't plan on leaving it on for more than 1 year.

Do you think this will be enough to cause noticeable differences in the paint when removed?

Color is Silver Sky Metallic if that matters.

Depends if you park in a garage or full sun but I don't think you'll see fading after 1 year.

Dunno. Pulled mine off once I came home from the dealership because of that very same concern

Assuming your business is successful, don't worry about it. Truck will turn into a business expense and you'll buy a new one in a year or two

Kinda kidding, but no idea honestly. When I removed my bedside decals, a faint discoloration was there after having only been on there for 2 years. I assume someone who knows what they're doing could've easily buffed it because a few years out in the sun, a bunch of dirt, and maybe 4 or 5 washes have blended it back to normal.

I think as long as you have the paint taken care of and in good condition prior to installing the decals, you likely won't run into any issues that a simple at home detailing couldn't fix.

I think its also important to note that the way you remove the decals plays a large role too. Heat and the right tools make removing decals less damaging than harsh chemicals getting thrown at the paint to try to remove leftover adhesive.

For a 1 year duration, I'd give it a good wash, lay down a coat of some sort of protection, and decal away.

Add them to windows, that's what I would do.

A work truck is a work truck. Good on you for trying to keep it nice, but some slight shadowing will probably be the least of your worries,,, depending on what you are doing with it.

    GL on the new biz!

If you are starting a business, and you are worrying about your company decals on your truck leaving an imprint, I would suggest your risk management and capital investment rate of return priorities are in the absolute WRONG place.

    Seriously. Your priorities should be:

*** Liability insurance for a vehicle being used for commercial purposes

*** Theft insurance for your truck being broken into and/or stolen for tools and equipment on board

*** Reliability, efficiency and business utility for the tool boxes and the equipment you need to carry. You don't see too many Tacos showing up to job sites as you do F-250s.

*** Customer appeal --> yes that matters. Are you showing up for a job in a pristine, detailed Tacoma? That you're worried about your vinyl decals?

Or are you showing up with a working Tacoma that is towing a pro trailer and your investment is evident in the tools, equipment and people you bring to the job?????????

These are the BUSINESS DECISIONS you need to make and not COSMETIC ONES

^ Yes, nothing says cheap and temporary, and I don't have a reputation, like a 12" x 24" rectangular magnetic door sign ^

Besides the point being a magnetic placard causing just as much if not more damage than vinyl decals.

+1. and most importantly, are you able to fix/install whatever it is you're charging these customers for with the tools you have on the vehicle?

anyone can show up in a specialty ferrari to look at the job. but if you've got to run for parts where the guy with the trailer/f-350 has everything he needs, he looks better equipped than you do.

in this case, a company labeled trailer is really the best way to go for many situations. it's easier to leave on-site, easier to load/unload, or otherwise organize, and also easier to unhook/store somewhere to allow you to carry on with your normal non-working life without feeling like a rolling advertisement.

I second going with magnetic signs. Then you can take them off when you want to be more “discrete”. I take mine off when I go to the bar just in case I get a little rowdy. I don’t want my business being tarnished.
