My stopping power is as keen as it were fresh off the lot, but at neighborhood speeds (20-25mph) they sometimes squeak coming to that stop. I'm gonna ask about it at my 15k service.

    With 15k I would hope it's only a little dirt/dust.

Likely so, though I've heard some horror stories of people having their rotors resurfaced for the same issue at that low of mileage. Meanwhile I just bought new front rotors, pads, sway bar links, front struts, plugs, and rear shocks for the wife's 130k mile '03 Ford Escape she came with. I refuse to drive or ride in it as is.

76K on my 08' and still on the factory pads & shoes. I've never had brakes last this long on anything I've owned in the past.

Just had my truck in for maintenance and they let me know that my front pads are about 50% gone. I have 18,000 miles, would have expected longer but I'm not sure if the prior owner (I bought it with 8,000 miles) did any towing or what their breaking habits were.

Front brake pads were replaced at 40k miles by the dealer I bought from. Truck now has 99k, front pads have tons of material left. Rear shoes are still originals, still have around 3/16" remaining. I don't do many hills and I am very easy on brakes, seems like they always last forever in all my vehicles.

Replacing my pads soon, anyone tried the toyota premium pads? How big of a difference is there from the standard pads?

So far I've added an Advance folding bed cover and since removed it. Gave it to my son in Maine, he has an 05 2wd. GT perfect fit seat covers. Weathertech floor mats and window vent visors. Waag center brush/grill guard. Hose clamp tailgate mod. Turned off the seat belt chime. Added Ultra-Gauge. Trailer hitch. Softopper. Replaced sun visors with slide out style. Toyota bed extender. Had Firestone Destinations and now Michelin LTX AT2 in stock size. More mods to come; Fog lights, locking storage in bed, intermittent wipers. Now looking for Radio/HU upgrade. and maybe a lift way down the road.
Last oil and lube the dealer wanted to replace brakes just because it's starting to become time they said. I held off. I'm going back on Tuesday for a 70k mile service and I know it'll come up again.
Does anyone know what the factory thickness is for the rotors and pads ? I'm sure the rears are fine.

I'm at 81k still on stock and still going strong. Most of my miles are highway miles tho, so not nearly as much braking as a city commuter. I do ~80 miles a day highway M-F.

Change pads when they are the thickness of the backing plate. Did mine at 64,500. You don't usually have to change rotors unless you wait too long and they get scored. You usually change front pads 2 or 3 time B 4 you need to do the rear - front does most of the breaking.

Thanks. Yeah I figured the rotors were going to be fine. I may get a chance to check them tomorrow so I can see for myself first.

Oh yeah. I know I can do it. Have done this on my older cars but when I was younger I usually let them go so far that I had to put more into it each time. Kinda trying to avoid that now but not sure the dealer is looking at the most economically timing either. And the fact that my hands don't function quite as well as they used to.
They feel fine so I don't think about it.
