My wife's 4Runner has 86k and dealer said the front brakes are getting close to needing pads. So I'll say anywhere in the 80-100k range depending on style of driving.

I have 58XXX miles on my truck and I am on my third set of pads. I got about 25-27XXX out of both of the first two sets. I guess towing and driving in hilly city conditions 90% of the time can wear through brake pads fast. No you can't coast to a stop when cars are pulling in and out in front of you at what seems like every crossroad or stop.

Just replaced mine yesterday...78,000 miles on the truck. They weren't all the way gone yet, but the wife and I are driving the truck on our vacation next week, so I decided to go ahead and replace them. By the looks of the old pads, they would have maybe done another 3000 miles at the most before being worn down to the squealers.

FYI...the pins that hold the pads in are a friggin' nightmare to remove with 6 Ohio winters worth of corrosion on them....:(.

I had 84k on my truck '05 TRD Sport Quad Cab when I traded it in. Brakes look and performed like new. I was amazed.

I had a 6spd manual, and used the tranny to slow down a lot of the time. Adds brake life... but probably shortened the life of the tranny. Not my problem. ;)

I have 42K on my truck and the front pads are not even half worn out! I should get 75K out of them before replacing. I drive 80% interstate, probably why the slow wear.

Got the truck inspected a few days ago the tech said I have about 80% left on my pads. I was surprized ,still the original ones with 50000 miles on them. I tow a small trailer alot and wouldn't say I'm eazy on em.

I've got 81K and mine aren't even half way yet. Manual tranny and lots of highway miles. It wouldn't surprise me to hit 200K

    Fair amt. of hwy. driving

Rotors could use resurfacing...slight vibes on braking sometimes.

I replaced the front pads this past Spring with 75,000 miles on the truck. The rear pads, drums and the front discs were all fine.

I'm at 96k and they are still good..I think 1/3 left . I do need a rear axle seal so they suggested I do the rear brakes at the same time since they will be in there anyway.

just replaced mine. 59k miles on truck, brakes felt weak, pads and shoes had at least 25% left but had one seized caliper that was prob contributing to feel. put on top line pads and shoes and toyota rotors. i noticed a reduction in steering wheel shake and overall vibes. wasn't happy about having to replace a caliper but decided to just do both and call it good for another 3yrs. i do spend some time off paved roads on forest access/old logging type roads and moderate wheeling for the truck but this truck hasn't been in a lot of mud.

Either you meant to say 80,000 or you have another problem. A properly operating brake system is not going to wear out the pads at 8,000 miles unless you drive around with your foot on the brake pedal all the time.
