    Hey folks,

Just wondering if anyone has an idea as to how long it normally takes for a Tacoma to be built? I was recently advised that the scheduled build date for my truck was April 7th and pending delivery and all of that stuff, I should be seeing it mid May.

I'm just curious to find out how long it actually takes to build the trucks from scratch once they enter production. Is it a quick process?

Can't wait for it to arrive :)

Placed order on Dec.26th,2008 and picked it up on April 3rd 2009. So it does take a while right now due to production cuts.

    Hey NikonRon,

Yeah the delivery date on mine was put back a few weeks as well because the production cuts. No biggie though as long as it gets here. The April 7th date was the revised production date so I'm getting anxious :)

I also had to wait close to 2 months the sad part was at one point it was built and sitting in the parking lot of the factory and the damm factory is less than 30 miles from my house. I did get it finally and I love it. Also debadged it got Wet Okolones seat covers Ipod interface and BluLogic for the cell phone. I also have a colored grille coming. This truck is fun as all my other vehicles were hand me downs from my wife. This one is MINE ALL MINE :bananadance::bananadance::bananadance:

I was unable to find how long it actually takes to build the truck from scratch once it enters production - but I KNOW I've seen that figure somewhere. I did find this on the NUMMI website though:

"The truck assembly line is about a half a mile long. At full capacity, NUMMI produces over 300 trucks per shift, or one every 85 seconds."

Nice truck plmber58! I put the deposit down on mine a couple of months back so yeah, I've been eagerly awaiting its arrival.

Raven65, that is nuts! I was thinking it would take a few days or something to build one, LOL. That would be pretty cool to see one being built "live" and watch how it all gets put together. I've been through a few very large sawmills and the automation in stuff like that is amazing. I imagine a truck plant would be just as impressive.

I'm in the same boat as you. My Tacoma was scheduled to be built on April 8th. The dealership says it might get through the distribution center faster since it is marked as "sold" since I've got my deposit down on it.

So far they changed the delivery date from 4/20 to 5/5 or so. They think it might sneak in early but who knows. I just call and pester them about once a week for updates. :D

Besides, I've already got my day off work scheduled. The wife and I are planning to make a day out of it. I'd rather not change it up now!

Yeah, I figure the couple of weeks it was pushed back isn't a huge issue in the grand scheme of things. Besides, that just means the streets will be even cleaner and I won't have to worry about gravel damage until next winter, LOL :D

I ordered mine in nov and got in late jan. Be prepared to wait. My dealer told me when I ordered it that I would have it in about 4-6 weeks. He was a lying douchebag and hasnn't worked a day since I picked up my truck but it does take awile to get in but its worth it when it get there.
