According to my dealership, the 60k recommendation ended with the 2015 model year and the 3rd gens are 100k. I just had my 60k service there which is why we discussed it.

Interesting. I feel like it's more to save labor than anything else though.

Think I'm good so far then, not that it's an excuse haha. One of the things I don't like about the second gens is no factory way to tell MPG. Have a ScanGuage coming in to solve that though!

Actually it was 30K up until 2015 on V6 Tacoma's and changed to 60K for the 3rd Gen, the 4 banger has the 100K interval.

I have 72k miles on the stock plugs. Planning to have them replaced at 75k.

    FWIW mine still runs perfect.

How do you trust a guy that claims the factory book that came with the truck is wrong. Fake owners manual given with the truck?

Nope. Never. But i have on a old Pontiac GTP and that sucked.
This car was a tremendous pain to work on. IIRC, you had to pull the washer fluid reservoir to get the battery out. Maybe even loosen the air filter box. The x had one like this.

My 2011 had about 210k miles on the original plugs. Hey, I was busy. Changing them was t too bad except for the last plug, which requires removing an engine bracket.

I feel your pain. We had some 5.4’s in our fleet at work and every damn one of them had spark plugs break off when it was time to change them.

Yep. Was my worst fear. I got lucky, but with the rest of the engine... not so much. Nothing could save that thing. Hit and miss with them. Some seem to be doing just fine and others need a massive overhaul every 30k. My buddies was at 145k with zero issues. Barely even a tick. He dogged that thing too. Never changed the plugs, never did timing, nothing but oil. I did a full rebuild at 130k and 30k later ran into piston issues/timing and the works all over. I gave up. Shoulda heard that thing start in the winter though... nails on a chalkboard.

Good to know. I guess we'll see what happens. Although it is a different vehicle; my 2008 Canyon's spark plugs still looked pretty new when I replaced them at 105K. There was expected discoloration but the gap and electrodes looked great.

Wife drives a Forester. I really didn't find it to be that hard.... they are tight spaces, and I'm a big guy, but it wasn't the worst I've done.

My 11 Highlander has OE plugs at 175K and still runs strong. I don't plan on changing my 18 Taco plugs at 60K either. Maybe 100K? Will have to monitor fuel mileage to determine.

I yearly, empty the power steering reservoir (nasty smelling) and brake reservoir then refill ! I've bought used vehicles and after doing the brake fluid, have noticeable difference in pedal firmness.

I do this every 30k. Condensation is the real killer. Keeps the air out having good fluid in there. But I do full flushes. Not that hard for the PS with the right setup. Basically like an IV drip lol. Since these diffs are so easy I'll do them the same time. 50 or 60k for the coolant maybe? Stupid closed system tranny... 50k regardless.

Blinker fluid is also sealed on this stupid truck... Engineers don't know how crucial that change is every 3rd oil change. Neither do Montanans, cuz their blinkers never fucken work...

Wait. You are claiming a pedal feel change from just changing the fluid in the reservoir?

Color me doubtful. It is what is in the rest of the circuit that matters. You are experiencing placebo effect. And most cars go to their grave with the OEM fill of brake fluid.
