Just curious about this. I have owned nothing but Toyota trucks for 40 years now. And only 4 different trucks. 1979 Longbed 2wd, then a 1991 4x4 access cab. Bought a 2002 Tundra in December 2001, sold it January of this year after purchasing a 2020 TRD Off road 4x4 Taco.

Never had any of those trucks break down. NEVER. Never replaced even 1 light bulb in the Tundra I drove for 18 years. These are such amazing, bulletproof trucks!!!

Share pics of the older trucks if you have any?

I've only owned a 89 and 93 4runner prior to tacoma. Both had loads of issues haha.

    13 years, 2 trucks.
2007 AC OR bought new - sold it in 2017 w 351,000 miles on it for $5,400 - could’ve got more but I gave a few hundred back to the Viet Nam combat vet- would’ve gave moe but he was adament.
2015 AC SR5 bought in 2017. I think it had 15,000 miles when I bought it, now has 94,500. I figure I’ll be driving this and waiting on what the 4th gen will be. If it hits all the right buttons, I’ll get it new and figure that’s it for DD vehicle buying for me.

Similar here. My primary vehicle has been a Toyota pickup since college graduation in 1986.

1984 4x4 sold because it was too bumpy, 1989 4x4 SR5 sold at 325k miles, 2005 SR5 gave to my son at 275k miles, and now my 4th and maybe final truck, a 2019 Tacoma Pro.

I have pics of all, just not all digitized. Pics of the 1979 (with a overhead Davlin camper on it of all things...talk about top heavy) and the 1991 4x4 are in photo albums somewhere. Here's a couple pics of the 2002 I just sold a couple months ago for 9.3K (165,000 miles). If I have time I'll look for the other photos today or tomorrow, scan and post. 20200202_153841.jpg 20200202_153916.jpg 20200218_143149.jpg

First was an '89 4X4 that i sold with 180K because i thought it had to start giving trouble sometime, I'm an idiot i guess. Second one i still have and it has over 500K, my DD is an 02 with 464K as of on the ride to work this morning, Just got a 20 AG PRO. I have had basically zero trouble out of them and hope the 20 is half the trucks the others have been.

First two were Toyota trucks before the TACOMA name arrived .... 1980 and1984. After that, went to a 4-runner until 2007. So, 2007, then a 2012, currently a 2019.

I bought this 1998 T100 in 2001, it had just come off a 3-year lease. I drove it until 2018 when I got my Tacoma. I do miss that truck, it was so reliable. The only thing besides the normal replaceables like tires, fluids, battery, etc., that ever needed replacing was one seatbelt and the starter contacts. These are the pics I used to advertise it for sale, I was swamped with replies.

bot this one with about 1500 miles (dealer loaner so i was 1st title holder) to work on the road in KC, Wichita and St Louis for a couple of years
this is what it looked like (random internet pic), oh wow how i liked the bright blue metallic color  it sparkled in the sun

i put on about 24k miles until i test drove this Tacoma i have currently one day and 'needed' to trade up for more power and most important more comfort
that bench seat in this was murderous on my joints in the 3 ~ 7 hour drives bi-weekly for months on end, and had NO A/C NO Cruise, but did have a nice rear slider window for comfort in the 105 summer heat that first summer I had it

A little of this and a little of that.
    I’ve owned an ‘84 AC 4x4, ‘87 Regular cab 4x4, ‘98 AC 4x4, and currently own ‘11 DCSB 4x4 and a ‘13 Regular cab 4x4.

Toyota builds great trucks, and I’ve never had any major issues with any of mine.

Since 1994 for me. Bought a 1994 Toyota 4x2 Truck, and drove it until a semi killed it in 2008, when I bought my current 2008 Tacoma X-Runner.

Sounds like it's time for a new Taco!! Why? You should SEE all the cool safety features they have compared to even 2nd Gens. Not to mention the crawl feature and better mileage. Just a thought........

What you're really going to like is finding out how frickin bullet proof these trucks are and mechanically sound, compared to Fords. I have a friend who has bought (he says) 10 ford trucks in the same time period I've had 4 Toyota trucks (btw, none of them failed on me, and my 2002 Tundra...get this....not even 1 light bulb burnt out in 18 years).

One month. Another former Ford guy.

My ‘03 F150 Fx4 went 17 years and 252,000 trouble free miles. New ones don’t fit in the garage.

Hoping the Tacoma makes me just as happy.
