Fun fact: The electric starter was invented in Dayton, Ohio!

Yes, by the Dayton ELectrical COmpany, (AKA Delco-Remy - AC-Delco - and most recently Delphi Electronics)

I have always warmed up my vehicles 2 wheel or 4 wheel, as its not a boomer thing as suggested. Preserve the equipment.
86' Stang - dealership stated to warm car up. There were times that I didn't even wait for kick down and it would run really rich.
92' Honda VFR 750 - same kinda choke thing and had to wait for it before going or it would stall.
95' Ducati 916 - had a button for starting for fast idle and you had to wait for it to get warmed up or it would stall.
02' Accord - boring ass sewing machine - I gave it a few minutes for all to get sitch-a-ated.
03' Audi RS6 - yeah, $40k aluminum Cosworth V8 twin turbo 5 valves per cylinder - Imma let this one warm up or at least kick down from fast idle. Expensive failure if things exit sideways.
    03' Tacoma - I give it a few minutes

Since most comments are jokes. Ill throw my serious opinion in. Metal expands with heat. Cylinder rings and stuff expands causing a tighter seal in the chamber. So with those physics, I always let my truck warm up a little before driving. Not that its definitely bad to start driving immediately. Just considering the logic of letting the metal expand at a low temperature before pushing it makes sense to me. And to science.
To add to that, oil moves better and flows better when warm. So letting the oil warm up and coat all of the moving parts is obviously better for the engine long term.

The Diesel engine in my work truck will do that if the temp is less then 50. It’s pretty common for me to idle that engine for long periods of time, so on cold nights I set it to fast-idle so that I have heat when I get back in LOL!

I start my truck, then buckle up, make sure I got everything with me, and then go. Maybe 1-2 minutes.

but in all honesty, I never turn my truck off.... I let it idle all night and all day whenever I’m not driving it. I even let it idle at the store when I’m inside. The best is when I park it at the airport, leave it idling, go on a week vacation, come back and it’s ready to go.

For my Tacoma I wait about 5 minutes on a cold start before backing out of my garage

The Camaro i wait until the water temp is 140° and trans temp showing 100°

No warm up required. Just don’t shift into drive from park and start pressing the accelerator pedal right away. You’re going to mess up the transmission.

Yes and after you've built some heat in the engine and transmission

My dad had the exact same one. Only thing was that his was shorted out. I found out the hard way when I used it to set the timing on my RX7. Pulled the trigger and got lit up. Dumbass me did it a second time because I had no idea what was going on. Mentioned something to him and he said "yeah, you need to wear a glove when you use it. I forgot to tell you, I'm guessing it shocked the hell out of you". I followed that up with a "if you knew it was broken, why don't you throw it away and get a new one" His response "why? you would have to be an idiot to do get shocked twice" Shook my head and accepted the life lesson.

Everything you do with your truck, is bad for it. In case you didn't know.
