341,000 miles and my fuel pump is still working. I've been lucky, I routinely drive 20 miles after the low fuel light comes on. And I just admitted it. Personal record is 42 miles after the light comes on. I don't recommend it. At this point, every mile with the truck is a blessing, so if the fuel pump goes out now due to my negligence, I'll just replace the fuel pump and keep truckin'.

Keeping the tank at least 1/4 or 1/2 full has its merits. But remember that the fuel pump motor already sits in a little plastic bucket thats about 6-8 inches tall. Its surrounded by fuel no matter how low the tank level is

The thing about the truck stirring up sediment may have been a concern back in the days of metal tanks. Metal tanks went away in late 1990s

I work at a independant/Chevron gas station with a 6 bay shop attached. We change the filters below the dispensers every 6 months. The gasoline filters never have anything remarkable in them, the diesel filters will have some varnish/particulate stuff but its minimal

Yes. Unless you are pumping your gas in a third world country with a rusted hand pump out of a 55 gallon drum sediment should not be an issue.

3 gallons on top of that “bucket” the pump sits in is plenty of coolant.

If I have to keep the truck at half tank, I will have to hit the gas station every time I turn the truck on.

When the gas light goes on, you still have about 4 gallons left in that tank, plenty of cooling liquid around that pump.

I have a new oem V6 fuel pump listed in the 2nd gen for sale section and I'm just across the river from you in NJ off 295. It's the full assembly with the bucket, pump, etc.
