Just curious how much the upper cats reduce noise. Would the volume be similar to other vehicles that remove their muffler but leave the car in place ?

My question has nothing to do with how obnoxious this would be, or all the engine codes, etc. Just sound level.

    Oh look, another mod....
If you really want to find out, park your truck in a bad neighborhood over night. When you come back the next day to pick it up, start it...you'll hear how loud it sounds without a catalytic converter.

Loud enough that you won't want to drive it.

Kind like asking what will happen if I stick my hand in the flame of a campfire? Of course it will be fucking loud with no muffler as the CAT does little if anything to reduce engine detonation noise. Do you really need a demo or first hand experience from someone else to believe this?

    Carry on!

Probably sound like this. Do it, your neighbors will love it. Everyone will be staring in envy, while cruising the strip through town. :101010:

The upper cats do reduce a good bit of noise, but the question is little more than a thought exercise. They also help provide the backpressure that the engine needs in order to run (properly).

Go to Taco Bell then go to the bathroom. Now imagine that 10x louder and 10x shittier.
If you’re in high school do it it’s fun. If you look anywhere close over 20 years old you’re going to look like a weirdo.

It would sound like shit and old people would hate you. I have an aftermarket muffler and the truck is loud. Could not imagine how revolting it would sound without a muffler or cats.
