How many bushings and where are they all at.

    If you will recall the fun I made of myself concerning the squeaks my truck makes sometime back. Many of you suggested and I have tried different lubricants etc to quiet them down.

    Unfortunately after their application, It didn't take long for me to realize that lubricating sprays at best were only temporary, in fact very short-lived.

    As such I have decided that after I take care of the oil leak problems, next will come the Squeaks. It would be most helpful to have reference to how many there are, where they are located, and who makes the better offerings. i.e. better quality, longest-lasting, etc., etc...

    Thanks, if you know and don't mind sharing, out of the 22, which if not all are prone to failure through normal use? I feel that these are on my shortlist for replacement. Are you familiar with any brands that are known for their quality or value over the others?

    I am tired of the constant squeaking sounds coming from my Tacoma. And lastly where is the best place to start i.e. what normally are the squeakest ones in the bunch. It would be nice to start with the worse and work my way to the least problematic.

    Whatever you decide to replace first, I’d stick with OEM. Stay away from poly bushings if you want to avoid squeaks

    Hey thanks, Truth be told I am an OEM kinda guy. I take a lot of flack due to that fact. But it is simply hard to beat Toyota's quality so why go out of your way to try. Is there a reference to OEM part numbers for Kits? I have been seeing a few on eBay but these days you never know what's real or counterfeit.

    Also, why do so many sing the praises of the aftermarket bushings if OEM is better? Cost?

    what is said above, while poly bushings will offer better “performance” aka a tighter feeling, that comes at a price of squeaks and slightly harsher ride. The squeaks may be avoided if you grease them but that will add to your monthly maintenance of the truck.

    the ones prone to failure I’ve seen over the years are the LCA first, then steering rack, then maybe sway bar. Personally I’d stick with OEM they will last a long time with little fuss

    When I did all the "rubber" parts on my front end @ 140K, my inner tie rods seemed to have the most wear of all. If you are going to do it, just do it all on the front end. Truck drives like new.

    Yeah, I agree that this would be the proper way to go given the miles on the truck. This with no front-end work ever being needed or done. Is this another case where it is best to stay with OEM? Or is there an aftermarket source known to offer better engineering or value in complete front in kits? And are there other considerations if you are thinking about a conservative lift?
