Will probably be buying a lower mileage, 5+ year old GX460 for my wife. Will put a 2-3" lift, sliders & tires. I know 100% of tings about the LX450 but nothing about the GX460 (2 totally different animals).
What do I look for, look out for?
Who makes a quality, best bang for my buck 2-3" lift that'll keep the stock feel to the ride?
    Thanks!

I look periodically for a GX460 (not in a rush, looking for a great deal). Best I've found so far is a '13 w/55K miles for $28K. It is absolutely immaculate w/good maintenance records & no accidents. Seems a little high to me but IDK.
    Thoughts?

I'd just stick with the gx470. Better price and looks nicer. But the only thing is they didn't come with any lockers. Not sure if the gx460 has any

GX470 is too old for my wife, unless I could find one w/50K miles which I doubt will happen. She likes the more luxurious aspects of the 460. I can go around the fancy electrical suspension on the 460 w/the proper lift kit, yes?

I don't see why you couldn't go around the electric stuff in the lift. I know OME has a kit for the gx470 to do just that

No, pulled off Facebook. However, wife has already picked out a 2020 Gx she wants and has told me she wants it lifted after the recent flooding here, so I plan on taking it To Duggy's to have it done given his reputation and resume.

I can do all the work myself, no problem. I just need to research the odds & ends that are particular to 460's.
    A 2020? Sheeeeeesh. Big money!

You tried calling Toytec or Headstrong? Both seem to be knowledgeable and helpful. I got my Taco lift from Toytec and they answered all my questions before purchase.

Both the 470 and 460 have electronic dampening control. All 470s have height control air suspension in the rear. I think air suspension is an option that only comes on “Luxury” model 460s.

Lifting either is the same. You can replace the air bags with coils and you can replace the electronic dampening shocks with aftermarket (OME, Dobinsons, Icon, Bilstein, etc... anything that fits the corresponding year 4 Runner works. It’s pretty simple.

Metal tech, Southern Style Offroad, and Treaty Oak are all good places to go for GX stuff.

Got the RTT mounted today. I have a hoist installed in the garage to move the RTT between vehicles and for storage when not in use. Needed to clean the garage first, which also gave me an excuse to take the Taco for a spin, she's been feeling neglected since the GX470 purchase.

The auto adjust rear suspension is perfect with the hitch mounted motorcycle carrier. Tested it out on some nasty fire roads on my way to ride. Worked like a dream...

Got to stretch it's legs a bit today. Nothing too crazy, but enough to build some confidence in it's capabilities..
