How many hours for installing rear suspension?

    Well the weather has turned to shit here, and I was wanting to install my rear leafs and Shocks this weekend.
    So i called a reputable frame and axle shop nd they are quoting me 2 hours each side for the install.
    I was thinking it should be about half that time.
    Does anyone know how long it takes to install the rear leafsprings and rear shocks?

    It took a shop here to do a front 885 install and rear leafs 2.5 hrs. Also the rear shocks take 10 min so install so judge of that :)

    That seems about on the level. Took me 5 so I don't think that is such a bad estimate.

    Did my rear shocks in about 15 minutes. The leafs looked like they'd take another 30 minutes per side or so, but that's just a guess.

    when i did the aal on my 07 it took me about 3 hours total (i had no idea what i was doing)
    then when i did them on my 09 it took me about an hour total.
    shocks are like a 10 min. job

    Thanks guys, i know the rear shocks would be easy and quick, but I wonder why they are telling me 2 hours to install rear leafs on each side? 4 hours total. Just doesnt seem right.

    The fronts definitely take longer than rear should.

    LED interior lights, stubby antenna, Pioneer in dash screen, good driver mod.
    I did mine in my driveway in about 2 hours. thats undoing the ubolts, dropping the axle, removing my current AAL and overload leaf, putting in the new 3 pack AAL, bolting it all back up.

    I just used the HOW TO guide chris made for the AAL install. its very simple and you get pride out of doing it yourself. I only had to make 2 trips to the part store, one for the socket to remove my u bolts and another trip to get a cut off wheel b/c my center pin was rusted bad

    Exactly. i know they can do it in that time, but their books say 2 hours each side, so regardless of how long it takes them, they will charge me for 4.

    So I have a new truck so I dont fee like i need new u bolts, but wondering because of the AAL, will I need longer than stock u bolts?

    I have TSB + AAL + shim. That's 5 leaves plus another almost half inch from the shims. I was on the borderline of needing longer bolts so I went ahead and bought longer u-bolts. They come in a couple of different lengths depending on where you order them. I bought longer ones and ended up sawzalling about an inch off mine after installation because they were hanging too low.
