How many keys did you get?

My 2021 was delivered in March 2021 with both FOBS and the valet key even though I was informed previously that only one FOB would be delivered with the truck.

Since I have no plans on returning to the selling dealership that was a plus both FOBS were there.

 

Bought my TRD Pro June 26 and was given two key fobs and one valet key.

 

I closed the deal on my 2020 when the dealerships were all closed due to covid and the vehicle shortages - I received 2 fobs and a valet. I would assume they owe you the remainder of your key set from purchase. Look at the paperwork you received from the dealer when you walked out as well, it should have a breakdown of items received at sale.

 

I took delivery of my 2021 Tacoma Sport the beginning of the first week of May. I received only one fob, one valet key. The salesman told me that Toyota would get in touch with me regarding the other fob. Crickets. I have contacted the dealership multiple times, once they ordered a key for me, and told me that I would have to pay for the programming when I went to pick it up. I declined, but I think they are still holding it for me. How do I get Toyota to get me the remaining key?

 

Got two keys with my purchase 6/12/2021. I don't have keyless entry, traditional fobs

 

Did Toyota provide you a document or a tag stating an additional key will be provided when available? Another user on this forum had received a red tag with this information - Should be provided free of charge if there's any documentation.

 

I bought my 2021 TRD OR Manual in late April of this year, and only received 1 key w/ built in remote lock/unlock, and one fully functioning "dumb" key, with no buttons on it. The "dumb" key had the promissory note from Toyota about them contacting me to send me the other key. Crickets here as well.

 

Just received my second key today. I bought my taco on March 30 of this year. Four months.

 

Yeah and now you have an extra 3rd key you didn’t have to pay for. I would have waited gladly. I got my 2 keys at delivery last December and the other key is still still in its plastic wrap, untouched, so no harm if I waited and got a 3rd key.

 

One interesting footnote, they had to verify that I was the owner, and they were the selling dealership before Toyota Corp. would release the key to them. Seems some unscrupulous people got a hold of some keys resulting in thefts of Toyota vehicles. How is that done? Through the vin # on the dash?

 

PS. You have to chase them for a key appointment.

 

went to the dealershp yesterday to check out the truck I had requested. they had 2 keys for the SR. was pleasantly that they were both the kind that are a remote/key combo.

 

Did the dealership contact you about the 2nd key being available or did Toyota Corp?

 

Picked up a used 17 from the local dealer a few months back and got two fob keys. Just recently they sent me a text saying
they had a 3rd fob key for me. Was skeptical it was for my truck, but it works. And I got the key code tag with it.

 

Did Toyota Corp contact you or the dealership. I'm in the same boat waiting for my second key as well.

please detail how you went about getting your second key, i took delivery april 1st and have called toyota corp but still no key

 

I called the dealer several times until they were finally supplied by Toyota Corp with a key. Very strange on how secretive the distribution of these missing keys are doled out. You are owed a key. They never contacted me, I had to keep calling.
