How many keys did you get?

check out toms key if you need another smart key fob. They sell you the fob (reasonably priced) and the module to program it. Yon only rent the module. They hold a deposit for it which they quickly refund once you mail it back. best and cheapest solution I could find to replace a lost fob.

 

Wish I knew for sure, I have a caveman 2018 without power tailgate locks

 

These images were posted on the M/T Tacomas Facebook page when I asked about only getting 1 key.
My truck is a '21 Off-Road with the manual trans. I only got 1 remote key and 1 standard key. From what I understand, there is a parts shortage and Toyota will provide us with the 2nd remote key when it is available.

 

It’s sad but I’m not surprised. COVID has given every business an excuse to suck. They will be using it as a crutch for the foreseeable future and I don’t think it will ever go away. You could always rely on Toyota over the other brands but now all it’s become is putting a cherry on a shit sundae. Lest we forget the elimination of the external transmission cooler even before COVID.....

 

I have attached two pictures of the keys that I received at the dealer. One regular key with the buttons and then one valet key.

 

Thanks for the info. I have googled that part number, but it has been superceded by 89786-0R020 which is not confirmed to fit the 2021 DCSB TRD OR 6MT. The other question I would have is how it can be cut to fit the ignition while not fitting the glove box lock.

I only got 2 fobs and confirmed with the dealer that the valet key no longer comes through, but if one is available, I want to purchase it. I am probably being a bit ridiculous about it, because half the time when I am compelled to use valet parking the attendant can't drive a MT and I have to park it myself anyway! However the valet still keeps the key and could rummage through my glove box, which I want to avoid.

My 16 sport and 21 sport both 2 keys. Never heard of 1 key

 

two keys for me and I would have held back $5000 or not bought the truck. They obviously lost the key.

 

? really, did you NOT just read the post 1/2 page up ? #105 how is this in anyway a lost key?
They have only answered this about 15 times already in the thread.

 

I wouldn’t mind just 1 remote key and 1 valet key.
I guess I could have a key cut just to unlock the doors.
As of right now, I leave my remote key in the bed and I take my locking cover key with me to hike, surf or whenever I know the key will get wet.

MT or AT? If MT, is it one “H” key and one plain key that also unlocks the glove box? Still trying to figure out if a valet key is truly available for a 2021 TRD OR 6MT, or if the other key people on here are talking about just doesn’t have the auto locking/unlocking functions, but still unlocks the glove box.

Just realized what I said based on what I was told there is no valet key on keyless start (no keyhole) I'm an ass, sorry

 

It is confusing, which is why I am trying to verify if a valet key is available for a 2021 TRD OR 6MT. There is the smart key that only comes with AT that you can remove the metal key and give the fob to the valet, which removes access to the glove box. Then there is the “H” key fob
that comes with the MT but has full access to all locks. Then there
Is the spare transponder key that has no electric lock capability, but has access to all locks. However, a true Valet key would have a transponder, and access to the door locks but not the glove box. Question is whether that particular kind of key is available for the 2021 TRD OR 6MT.
