I bought a 2000 Taco new and put 280,000m and still had original clutch and transmission when I traded! Living on an island at the beach for about 14yrs of its life took its toll!
My dad had an ‘87 4Runner he bought new and sold it for more than what it was worth at 300k.. I was pissed because he new I wanted it! Last time I saw it on the road was last year..

What will kill your Toyota is rust. Everything else will last forever with proper maintenance. Well maybe the seats might be a little tattered looking after a million miles. If you like the truck do what you can to keep the body and frame clean and dry. Including blowing out debris from places most folks don’t bother with. (On my first gen, behind lower fenders and inside the frame)

Exactly 133,440 miles on the clock as of this post; Owner the truck since new with 20 miles on it and have to replace the master cylinder and A/C evaporator, but no engine problems to speak of!

2014 with 75k. Keep it rust-free and you are fine. Just see what Top Gear and Whistlin Diesel did to the Hilux, the same engineering went into our trucks.

223,000 miles on my 2005 4cyl 5spd. Usually it's the rust that gets them so do your rust prevention and you'll be fine!

I see snow on the ground. I read "Colorado". I think "salt". So, your truck probably won't last very long.

In all seriousness, it's going to rust away before it fails mechanically if you give it anything like routine maintenance. If you go to extreme lengths to clean and rust-proof the frame and body, then you'll greatly extend the life of your truck.

My 2010 Off Road recently hit 100,000, finally just broken in. My brother had a first gen and at one point I found out he had not done an oil change for two years, about 20,000 miles. Truck was running fine. We went out to do an oil change, drained the oil, it came out like black honey. Finished the oil change, didnt run any different. He continued to drive it up to about 375,000 miles and sold it, it was still running strong. Apparently you done even have to maintain them and they will still last. Best trucks on the planet!!

I’ve owned my 2013 Tacoma Limited almost 3 months and it turned over 100,000 miles a week or so ago. It’s double cab 4.0 6 cyl 4x4. Street only so far...hell, I don’t know where around my parts to even go off road.

I purchased my ‘08 Tacoma from the original owner last year and he always took it to the dealer every time it was ready to be serviced. He gave me all the paperwork showing everything he had done to it since he bought it new. As someone has mentioned, keeping the truck maintained will add life and value to it. BTW, it only has 413,000 miles on it and it rides and drives like a new truck. 36C535D8-85DF-40F0-9715-CDBC0F47E337.jpg

@swb2121 I've got 314,790 miles on my 99 Tacoma 4x4. I bought it in 2004 from a Lt. Commander stationed in S.C. It had 97,000 miles on it. I've had one mechanic to work on my truck and his name is Frank Goodwin - he owns Goodwin Automotive and he only works on Toyotas. He's someone I like, trust and respect. I always get parts from the dealership - no modifications; I take off what's gone bad, put the exact replacement on and keep it moving. Bottom line - Toyotas are built to last - period. Take care of it and it will take care of you.
