Seems like a high price for the miles. I have an 06 with 122k.....bought it in 09 with 40k. She runs like the day I bought her with the exception of a bad vibration from the BFGmud terrains : ) In either case I would say the miles would be the last thing on my mind!

Depends on the market in your area on if price is right or not. I've found a double cab with almost as many miles for $14,600. Then one with 199k miles for $12k.. Anything else is $16k and on up for the same year.

'yotas run forever though if taken care of. My supra was a champ at 150k miles.

Seems high to me... I paid $14k for my 06 sr5 prerunner access cab w/ 40k miles. at the beginning of this year.

Took 6 months to find a good deal... keep looking.. look every day.

Seems everyone wants a tacoma so there's alot of competition.. especially on craigslist.

The Tacomas seem to hold their value pretty well. The 1st gen 2001-2004 DC's are still mostly over $10K. 14K is a lot to fork over for any used car that has close to 150K miles on it. If the truck was taken care of previously and if you take care of it you should be able to get 250K easy out of it. Is 4X4 a must? There are deals out there, but you must be willing to travel a bit, look everyday, and have cash "on hand" (which means keeping it in your house somewhere so that you can be 1st in line to pick up a good deal). I ended up buying my '06 brand new because back then even the 1st gen's were still in the upper teens and for a few thousand more I could have new. If you keep your eyes open you'll probably find one that's either cheaper or has less miles on it. If you have cash on hand you could always offer less. The worst that he could say is no.

drove my '97 4Runner past 220K with no problems.

$14K sounds steep for 144k miles, considering you're gunna have repair jobs on wear items for sure.

if it's in good condition and was well maintained, 144k miles should not detract. the $14K price however is questionable.

Look for maintenance records if you're really interested.

I'd suggest CarMax email alerts...sometimes pricey, but they only sell lower mileage vehicles (well, lower than 144,XXX that is). I was very patient finding exactly what I wanted via CarMax - just customize a search and they notify when a vehicle crops up meeting your criteria.
