Mines averaged anywhere from 15.5mpg before break in (313 miles to a tank) to 20.5mpg lately with the CAI, magnaflow, and unichip (416 miles on a tank)

So far I've gotten around 300 miles per tank in the city and that's with about an 1/8 to 1/4 of a tank left. I haven't seen the light come on yet.

I cruise 65 on the highway and have consistently obtained 31.5 31.7 mpg on my 2.7.

The most I've gone on one tank (21.1 gals) is 671 miles (all freeway).

I'm averaging 16.x mph with my TRD V6 6speed manual all city. From a full tank to well after the light comes on I can hit 300 miles.

Pretty disappointing, don't full size v8 trucks have that kind of mph?

The specs tell me that my '09 has a 21.1 gallon tank. The first few times I filled up within 20 or 30 miles of the warning light coming on I hardly got 18 gallons in.

Is the owner's manual a little off or do I actually have something less than 21 gallons.

It's definitely a 21.1 gallon tank. Toyota has a filler neck that's kind of restrictive so that the consumer won't accidentally overfill to the point of a gushing spout when it nears the top.

I have filled my tank as slow as I could so that no bubbles would force a premature pump stoppage. You have to fill it really really slow towards the end of the fill, sometimes stopping every few seconds to let the flow settle.

I've gotten over 21.1 gallons into the tank and it wasn't easy. You just have to try to keep big air bubbles from forming in the tank.

By the way, I've just topped 8,000 miles on the vehicle and I'm getting 32.1 mpg driving on the highway @ 65. In town I'm averaging 24.8 mpg.

I suggest buying a ScanGuage II unit, using cruise-control even in town, and applying the eggshell modification (light accelerator foot).

    I love my truck.

I totally topped off one day and made a complete round-trip from central CA to Los Angeles (Simi Valley) - back to central CA on one tank. 684 miles total on 21 gallons used (according to the scanguage and the next topped off fill-up).

I thought that was pretty damn good considering I had the A/C on most of the way and had to traverse the GrapeVine both directions.

    Came out to 32.5 mpg

I travel to my property near Colville Wa. from near Seattle, it's 345 mi., over a mountain pass and through the Columbia River gorge. I get to the property with over a 1/4 tank left and the scan gauge has me at 23 mi per gallon. 08' Access Cab TRD 4.0 litre. My interstate speed is 65 mph and I coast when appropriate on the county roads.

Others can call B.S. if it makes them feel better, but those are the facts.

I won't call BS, but I will say that you SUCK!!!!

I guess I just like to have too much fun when I drive....A scanguage would reaffirm that I'm sure.

It's no lie, for sure. I'm a pilot by training which makes me anal by default. I watch my performance with a critical eye.

    Tips:
    1. Full synthetic 5W30 Mobil One with Mobil One filters.
    2. Max tire pressure - cold
    3. I got the do-it-yourself cruise control from Toyota Parts and installed it in less than 1 hour. Great mod and raised the value of my vehicle.
    4. ScanGuage II tool.
    5. Use cruise-control in town and use it.
    6. Use "hypermiling techniques" to increase mileage. (coasting, drafting bigger vehicles...etc.)
    7. Microlon http://www.microlon.net/ low friction treatment for the tranny, engine, rear differential, wheel bearings. (I haven't applied this yet because I want to let the motor break in to about 10,000 miles first).
    8. Drive with a light foot.
    9. I run a water-bottle sized mix of (acetone / toluene / MEK / Marvel mystery Oil ) to keep injectors clean during the first 10,000 miles of break-in. I use this every other fill-up.

I've been told by Toyota mechanics that these motors don't really even start to break-in fully until about 20,000 miles. I'm coming up on 8,000 miles and I've noticed it runs smoother and smoother and mileage is still increasing on my scanguage with the same settings.

I started with around 25.5 and now I'm 31.1 average on the highway based on a 65 mph cruise setting. I drive 70 - 75 at times if I can draft a tour bus, big RV, or motor coach. My scanguage loves this. I've seen 44 mpg when drafting at 75 behind one of these mammoths...but it takes a lot of concentration.

I got about 380 or so on my first tank ('09 6 cyl 4x4). Came out to roughly 22 MPG :) - mainly on country back roads. Will report more as time goes by.
