Just think of it as "love" time with your Tacoma. That is what I do (27 mile commute).

I think it sucks too. I'm averaging about the same in mixed driving. I thought I'd get a tonneau cover for my Double Cab TRD Sport (the idea is that it might lower the drag)...but Toyota doesn't seem to see this as an accessory anymore. Hmmm...anyway, I'll have to see about an aftermarket one. But there are so many out there, I'm afraid I'll buy the wrong one. :(

How can you get 100 more miles per tank than me and fill up for the same amount. I drive slower than you. I usually keep it at around 65-70mph. This cannot be possible.

hey guys i'm back...so i've been reading up on everything here and trying to improve my horrible mileage....ok so we already established i have an 06 dcab sport manual, and getting like 13-15 city if i'm lucky....well i'm taking a trip down to SC the end of august, round trip its like 1350 miles...now realisticly speaking if i try to keep it at 65, with maybe cruise control on, what can i maybe expect to get mileage wise per gallon...i was gunna take my girls 99 golf, but aside from some minor problems, her car only says it will get like 25mpg (possibly upto 28mpg) highway, if we're lucky...if i can get say like 20-21 mpg highway i'd rather take the truck, cause i'm not too sure if her car is up for it...ugh descisions descisions

With the 4.0L V6, and doing about 85% freeway this week (and I have a pretty heavy foot), I am at 291 miles on this tank and have a hair under 1/8 of a tank left. I just recently got my Tacoma and am curious how well it will do. As soon as the light comes on I will fill her up, but this WAY BETTER than my former vehicle, a Dodge Durango. Night and day.

I get about 400-425 on a tank with my I4. A mixture of city and highway.

I got 23mpg on a trip up to NJ (575 miles each way) in June and 22 on the way back. Coming back I probably averaged 75mph (I do 8-9mph over the limit) plus I was loaded down with baby shower gifts (the entire truck: bed, rear seat area, and front pass seat) which probably totaled about 400 lbs or so.

Where in SC are you headed?
