I have 4x4, Tacoma/access V6 with six manual. average 18mpg. But there is a problem. I went to Silverado dealer today and he quoted me a much better mileage on the new Silverado and claims it because the government takes the size of the fuel tank into consideration. So a bigger gas tank will display a better MPG average sticker. That court case in California about suing Honda because it never delivered the mileage as advertised/ Honda got out of the law suit because they claimed that mileage is calculated by Government standards not by actual tests. So which is true. Is the Toyota you buy in east coast the same as the Toyota you buy on west coast?

I usually get just over 20mpg average per tank, which is pretty good for living on a rock ;)
So I guess that would mean I could theoretically go atleast 420 miles before my tank runs dry. I could probably drive around this island twice :D

I bet Alaska and Hawaii is better with the metric system than the rest of the country!

I think for sure Alaskans call most the USA 'The Lower 48' and Canada is between the two... and you guys living in paradise just call us the 'mainland', right bra'?

    Mahalo!

Tacoma is stock and staying that way, Pickup is TBA as of now.
Best tank I've gotten is 420 miles, 4 cylinder manual. Average tank is about 360 though since I have a heavy foot.

Just finished my first tank. I would say I have babied it. 50/50 driving. Measly 15.7. Hope things get better than that. Went to check tire pressure and all set at 34 psi. 240 on 15.326. Maybe the dealer did not have it completely full. I will see how this tank goes with me filing it.

Just to be clear, some of you guys posting those crazy high numbers should say if you are 4x4 or 2WD.

Those of us who have neither city nor highway will get the best mileage. Rural roads ftw

Those that have city will be somewhat worse

Those that have highway and six speeds will be a heck of a lot worse lol

Those that don't use roads won't care as much

Come on guys, let's be more helpful... please say how many gallons (or liters) and not "tank" or "filled up" as niether term provides the data to know what your mileage is... or how far on a 17 gallon (E Light), 18 gallon (E Line), or 21 gallon (run out of gas) "tank"! Thanks!

I've been averaging between 15-17 mpg as of the last few fill ups. Mostly city driving and babying the throttle best I can. I would be hard pressed to get 300 miles out of a tank with it right on the E line, not sure how you guys are getting 340+..
