I’d just pop a new filter on that bich.

Whatever the owner's manual recommends... It ain't rocket science.

Then you jumped the gun by 9K miles. I don't know what Toyota does but some companies used to fill with a break-in oil. That kind of oil helped the engines wear slightly so that surfaces aligned better. It would help the rings seat properly. I think the tolerances today don't require break in oil, but if they don't then you also don't need to change more than recommended.

I'm sure you are proud of your new rig and want to protect it as best you can. Some people consider extra oil changes as "cheap insurance", but unnecessary expenses are NOT cheap insurance because they are just unnecessary.

But you do you and report back if your rig never seats the rings...

I had first oil change on my 2021 Sport at under 5K miles.

Toyota Care's first scheduled oil change was 10K so I paid the dealership to do it.

I soon regretted having the dealership perform oil change after that first experience. lol

It's your truck so do what you feel is necessary.

I used this equation to determine when to do the first oil change, but I used a “standard day” which is 15c or 59f and time viewed as a “constant”

Could you elaborate about the dealer experience?

I have photos somewhere but can't find them...

Basically, a young tech did the oil change and said he had to remove part of the air dam to do the oil change.

In the process, when he went to screw back the thin-metal skid, he probably used an impact gun to screw 4 bolts in at an angle and stripped the bolts badly.

When I went to speak with the Service Manager, he did not offer any future services at a discount rate for UNSAT service received.

He also did not hold the young service tech accountable for understanding his error.

I've since installed the TRD Skid, Fumoto Valve, and Aluminum Housing...supplemented with the MotivX Oil Filter Kit and do the oil changes myself.

I did mine at 1k (analysis sent in), 2k, and now every 5k per usual. Easy insurance.

    Never follow the manual!!!

The manual for my Tundra V8 says 10,000 miles or 16,000km, I change it every 6000 to 8000km which is 4000 to 5000 miles. They only suggest this to advertise a low cost of ownership. If you need a new motor in 6 years, not their problem.

Does the trd skid have a “hatch” door for oil changes to eliminate the need for removing it for servicing the change?
    Thanks.

Never mind. Just googled it. Seems like it does
