We've joked about that on here, too, asking the 2-3000 mile OCI club to donate their barely-used oil to the rest of us.

I used to top up my Rodeo with used oil in a pinch; it burned so much it pretty much always had fresh oil in circulation. (We're talking 1/2 to 1 quart per 1000 miles). I used to tell people it had self-changing oil.

These days I don’t think it’s nearly as important to do the early oil changes but I do believe it’s up to us and what we feel comfortable with, just stick within what the owners manual recommends

I will go by Toyotas recommendations at 10K. Will do an analysis and see how the oil and additives are holding up also to see if the engine is cleaning up from assembly. I expect analysis results will say to extend oil changes beyond 10K that the oils is in good condition. For the $35 bucks to test it is worth it. I test the oil for most changes on my Indian V-twin. I attached a copy of my Indian report so if anyone is interested in the data that comes from the analysis.

Car Care Nut says every 3-4 k or every 3-4 months. So that is 3-4 times a year. He makes the argument that this is for turbo engines. For NA engines he recommends 5k or 6 months. In another video he explains the mileage vs timing is because once gas starts mixing in with the oil it will break down whether you drive it a lot of miles or not. So take that fwiw I guess.

Doing mine this week. I’m at 3k right now. I’ll change it at 10k, and every 5k after.

Had the dealer do my first at 2600. But that was after 6 months of ownership.

I changed mine at 5k miles, I know Toyota says 10k, but I'm old school, can't hurt to have fresh oil especially with the turbo. Cheap insurance and it's easy to change.

I will do mine at 1500 then 3K then every 3K. Oil is Very cheap insurance, and with the turbo and hybrid. I mean the engine is an instant start to 2K-rpm. The poor turbo has gota be stressed. The last Toyota truck I had was an early 80’s SR-5 long bed 5-speed that I drove for over 150K and the guy I sold it to drove it for another 200K. I hope this one lasts 1/2 that long.
