"hoses at that point, as well as the heater hoses" just wondering - is that in a maintenance schedule somewhere or just something you feel is a good idea ? Thanks. Curious George.

that's me. my thinking is, the hoses won't last a second 100K which is how long our coolant is suppose to last.

figure it makes sense to change the hoses while the coolant is already out, vs blowing a hose and having to replace the hose and lost coolant.

Sounds good - thanks. So far I dumped and replaced 1 gal at 30,000 and 1 gal at 60,000. I never completely flushed it. Maybe I should consider the hoses at 90,000. Wonder what the average life of a hose is ? Thanks for your answer.

My 2000 PreRunner 2.7 has 134k miles and is all original. The only problem I have is a bad 1st gear upshift/downshift solenoid.I have to manually put it in 1st and manually upshift to 2nd.After that the other gears shift normal.I can get all 3 solenoids for around $125 and it is an easy fix.I just hate pulling the pan off and am quite accustomed to shifting it.I still get between 18.5 and 19.5 mpg in town so not really a problem.I am curious at what miles these engines suffer the timing chain/chain guide issues. That is my only concern about this engine.I do have the cold start typical piston slap that goes away in 2-3 minutes.

i did a quick search after posting that. i saw people claiming to get anywhere from 130,000 to 250,000 on different makes and models (honda, ford, chevy, etc)

good conversation. just looking at the maintenance schedule, and the coolant and spark plugs are at 90K miles, not 100k.

My '03 has 240,000 on it, so far only the front driver wheel bearing has been replaced. Sounds like the clutch is finally going out though

Is the key. I believe this engine will run for 400,000 miles when taken care of.
